Eminem can CHOOSE to live in a culture thats dominated by black people. But at any time he chooses to walk away, he is just another white guy. He doesnt chose to be black, he chooses to live in that culture. And as sad as it is, a certain portion of the population still considers blacks as less than equal based on Skin color. Eminem will NEVER face that problem... rapper or not.

Yes, he lives in a culture dominated by blacks, but he had an uphill climb to get to where he has gotten. Think of all the other white rappers that came around only to be ridiculed for being posers. He opened doors and deserves to enjoy all his successes. I don't think it's fair that black people are judged for doing the same thing, but those who have achieved what Eminem has achieved aren't treated like normal black folk either. It's really about being rich more than race.

There are black dudes that act "white," (which means educated and speak properly) so to say blacks can't act or be white is disingenuous.

Outside of Jay-Z and Biggie, Snoop is probably the most over rated rapper in history. I don't hate Snoop, I own some Snoop, but he can't carry Eminem's mic. And it is really easy to write a rap. It's very hard and absolutely takes a particular talent to write good rap. Maybe even more so than any other music because of the amount of words needed to fill a rap song. It's beyond ignorant to claim that the right look can make a rapper seem talented. The right look, the right production can make a rapper a lot of money but making money at something doesn't mean you're talented.

Snoop did it without the backing of a millionaire. As did most of NWA, Run DMC, and quite a few other rappers.

I dont blame him for it. This country is what it is. But I also dont think he is all that talented and without the backing of Dre, he would have just been another white guy who started rapping, had a hit or two and ended up doing cameos in Adam Sandler movies.

Not at all. IM black, grew up in South east DC. But I moved away to get away from that culture and sterotype. Despite serving my country, having two degrees and never having been to jail, Im still subject to getting stopped for DWB on the one hand, and have been called a sell out by the blacks still into that culture on the flip side.

Maybe maybe not, but what compelled Dre to back him in the first place, and it's not like Dre didn't get anything out of it. It was a well worth investment to say the least. Relaunched Dre's career if you ask me.

Dre is a business man at the end of the day. Black America makes up at BEST 30% of the population and maybe 15% of the disposable income in this country. You get some one who appeals to young white suburban teens whos parents make up twice or better of the disposable income and you will clear much more profits off of your product. Dre saw some one that had a talent for rapping that could appeal cross platform and tap into the disposable income of BOTH demographics. You think it was an accident that for the first three months of his career most people thought he was black?? Hell no, Dre was smart... get the young blacks behind his music BEFORE they knew and the pitch was much easier over all.

This is what's so tragic, the labeling and disrespect from within and outside of the black and white populations.

Sorry dude, but until about 10 to 15 years ago you did NOT see many young white suburbanites rocking rap music. And until Eminem actually hit the scene right around that time, Rap was commonly refereed to a hood ****a music.
