I agree that the video would be an issue which doesn't normally occur in the other cases.
The kid at what was it Stanford not long ago that got in no trouble for raping a girl?Do you keep up with the news? There are physical and sexual assaults of women at all campuses - And some of our prestigious universities have some of the biggest issues..... You think all these kids are getting tossed out of school?
The cops saw a cell phone video. All I know was they took her out in an ambulance. I don't know the exact details.Pretty anecdotal.
Without knowing the extent of the girls's injury, or if the assault was filmed, I'm not sure if there's much comparison.

I can tell you, a normal student doesn't have to deal with nearly as much. I knew a guy who was friends with my roomate at college who decked a girl at a frat party. He got put on probation and academic probation. That was it.

Yeah he got off easy for RAPING an unconscious woman (much worse than punching one, IMO), but did get kicked out of school, went to jail (for a far too short amount of time), paid a pretty fat fine, and is now a registered sex offender.
What do you think is a fair punishment for Mixon? All true, plus three years probation.
But, you know, Mixon got fewer millions when he was drafted, so he has it worse.
What do you think is a fair punishment for Mixon?
This is complete revisionist history.
He was a 27 year old perennial probowl player who was coming off of a down year. Another bad season and it's a trend and maybe his career is in jeopardy.
He was 27 at that time. His last down of football was at 26.He was suspended until 11/28/14. So if someone was going to gamble on him it would be a 28 year old, who didn't play an entire season after having a major down season where he averaged 3.1 Y/A on 214 attempts.
He was 27 at that time. His last down of football was at 26.
If it's not related to the domestic violence case than a probowl running back having one down year at 26 yrs old and never playing another down of football is a strange career trajectory. I've never seen with another player.
Also he attributed the down year to injury.
Ray Rice regrets playing for Ravens through hip injury
Can't wait for it to reach 30 by training camp.
You know, that's a great question, and one I haven't thought about, but I'll give it a try.
First, I'd like to give my read on the video. The broad walks into the shop, visibly agitated and seems like she has gone into the store to decompress from whatever just happened outside. Mixon walks in and his body language clearly demonstrates that he came for confrontation. He goes over to the table and appears to square off against her friend in skinny jeans. I've read that at that point Mixon calls the dude in skinny jeans a faggot. That's the point where she stands up to push him away, he lunges at her, she takes a half-hearted smack at him and he absolutely levels her and then calmly walks out.
The big thing for me is that after whatever transpired outside, she removed herself from the situation and went into the shop almost as a refuge. He followed her in there to confront her, which he admitted in the police report. From a primal perspective, he'd cornered her.
From the University's standpoint, I think he should have been expelled. I know that if I was paying to send my children there, particularly a daughter, or if I was an alumnus that's what I'd want. It a violent and particularly ugly representation of the school that shouldn't be tolerated. I assume that if the AD and school president knew the video would be made public, they'd have done more than they did; then again, maybe not because he's good at running with a football.
From a legal standpoint, I don't really know. I'm not a lawyer, judge nor do I know much about law enforcement. I did read a little about Oklahoma law as it pertains to assault and battery, and there are extra measures of punishment for special victims (law enforcement, paramedics, etc, which she doesn't qualify for), as well as for the amount of damage done (which I think this does qualify). She didn't have a black eye, a bruise or a sore jaw. The side of her face was literally broken.
I don't know exactly what punishment I'd want, but community service and a scholarship just doesn't feel right.
The entire first part of that is conjecture. You couldn't possibly know any of that. So you are basing his punishment off a totally fabricated point of view of the situation.
Looks just as likely the camera saw some chick walk in, she starts talking to someone at a table, say it is Mixon's friend, because that "guy" sitting at the table she approaches appears to be Mixon's friend to me (also conjecture), but once Mixon decks her, the guy sitting at the table walks out too. Who is to say that Mixon didn't just walk in, stand at the end of the table to converse with his friend, she says something to his friend, he makes some smart ass remark to her comment to his friend, and she gets pissed and gets her drunk ass self in a rage from the comment, and hauls off and hits Mixon and spits on him?
Mine is just as plausible don't you think?
If you are going to define a punishment for someone shouldn't you be aware of the entire situation first?
Jesus still loves you though.
Mixon should have just walked away instead of walking in that shop, but he didn't.
