Dodgers starting pitching depth chart this year, make sure you add Brock Stewart to that list. He's going to start on Wednesday, making his MLB debut. It's not even July.

Or maybe throw money towards pitchers that can actually get you 200 innings consistently. Brett Anderson, Maeda, Kazmir, Ryu, McCarthy, etc. all have extensive injury histories and/or potential and yet Los Doyers seem to throw cheddar at the questionable ones with some regularity.

Imagine what the dogs would be without these injuries. Giants sure are lucky...

Never mind that that entire list of pitchers gave long histories of injury problems and that everyone was pointing at the dog-rotation as a cluster-fuck of injury issues just waiting to happen.

Don't expect any "Man, that IS tough luck" responses here when you have Brandon Beachy listed on your depth chart.

They should name this excuse after the Giants.

It is not an excuse! I came into the season with high hopes but when Aaron Altherr got hurt I became concerned. Then Cody Asche loses a couple months, which is bad enough but when Charlie Morton went down there's not much you can do. Guys like that don't just grow on trees.

No team could have recovered from the loss of an Aaron Altherr...

You seemed to have missed the point that the injuries aren't exclusive to the rotation, and that every team has to deal with them. The rotation is just one easy example among many. You seem to playing some kind of chicken/egg game about injury prone players and needing replacements.

I know you're joking, but the Phillies have atrocious depth and only RAJ to blame. If they had been beefing up the bottom of the 40-man, maybe the fall off since 2009 wouldn't have been so harsh. The Phillies certainly had the trade equity and financial resources to do it.

It's only the fans and scribes that use injuries as an excuse. Teams, coaches and managers will identify their losses, and replace them as they can. It is hard call it an "excuse," but as another commenter said, it is definitely a "reason" why teams underachieve. Seems to me that the OP is trying to force a definition and looking for reasons to dispute it.

Try to find 2 MLB ready rotation guys out of the system or off the waiver wire ... you ain't gonna get that lucky.

I spent years listening to idiots tell how Dusty Baker ruined all his young pitchers.
When did Dusty manage the Dodgers?

He was named Tommy Lasorda back then.
