As explained in the Team-by-Team Thread, I am planning on making a thread every three days for a different team. The first few posts will be questions, requests for predictions, etc. There will be a poll unless I don't feel like making one. Some teams are less interesting than others.

Please participate in posting articles, predictions, etc.

So Far:

The San Antonio Spurs Thread - Defending NBA Champions.

The Miami Heat Thread - NBA Finals Runnerup.

The Oklahoma City Thunder Thread - Lost to the Champions.

The Indiana Pacers Thread - Lost to Finals Runnerup.

The Pacers have two FATAL flaws at least -

Lack of floor leadership
Lack of basketball IQ

We could also throw in there lack of heart and lack of coaching......so essentially 4 huge problems. They are really a talent rich, mentally poor team. They'll never win anything as currently comprised. Anyone expecting anything from this group, I have news for you - they will lie to you again

Paul George is still a top 10 player, Hibbert can disappear at times but when he has his head on straight he can be very effective. George Hill and Rodney Stuckey are below-average guards, David West is solid, but nothing special.

The more I look at this team without Stephenson the more I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped out of the top 5 in the East. Still a solid team, but the Bulls and Cavs are the only title-contenders in the East at the moment.

:agree:

They did nothing to address their fatal flaw:

SHOOTING.

Washington got better, Charlotte got better, Bulls and Cavs got better.

Indy got worse.

So, I say 6th seed.

The current PACERS era reminds me of the defensive version of the early 2000s Kings.

Looked like a young and hungry new team when they burst on to the scene as an 8 seed.
closer and closer to dethroning the older established roadblock each year..but needed that HCA
Got the best chance ever to do it with HCA....but inexplicably lost again
Core starts crumbling and team fades back as new contenders emerge

I don't think it ends well for this Pacers era.

They lose in the 2nd round.

Well, in fairness....

We are all playing for #2.

Unless the Spurs have a major injury, your team takes the trophy again.

I never had much interest in that Team.

I always knew Duncan was the best PF....EVER.

But, I thought their brand of Basketball was......boring.

My team is all style, no substance.

So, over the last 2 Seasons I have become a fan.

Fundamentals > Sports Center play pf the day :bawling:

Their fatal flaw is lack of basketball IQ and leadership.....they can add all the shooters in the world, but them dudes will always find a way to take the wrong shot at the wrong time.

Of course, you can say just about anything this time of year with little ownership. But Lance, as talented as he is, was a major source of discord on this team.

I expect the Pacers to consistently play a better brand of team basketball this next season. Where that will lead them? Who can really say what any of the teams in the East will look like at this point?

You have a lot of opinions for a fan from a place where the only ball they know anything about is oblong.

Funny, since my team, city, and state have more titles than yours has appearances

And I see you don't really dispute my opinion. I've never seen a "contending" team so poor in leadership, heart, and IQ. They made fools of themselves against Atlanta, Washington and Miami.

I more or less agree with this.

I also think that Paul George is one of the most overrated players in the league. He is a slightly better version of Rudy Gay, a nice player, but when it really boils down to it, he is not the MVP level performer some were making him out to be early last year.

When the Pacers are at their best, it is Hibbert and West leading the way. I actually think they can still make the playoffs this year if Hibbert bounces back (I think he will).

Two more days. Please vote for an option in this thread and any other that you have not voted on yet. I compiled the results in the NFL and I would like to do the same with the NBA. Thank you.
