I hate Green Fried Tomatoes.

But I do love Chicago style pizza, best pizza in the world, and no I'm not talking about deep dish pizza where the crust is 90% of the pizza.

I lived in Kansas for year and never even heard of hamburger casserole.

Also, the guy apparently can't read a map correctly:

Corndog (Iowa)

Ummm, you need to travel quite a bit further south for that.

He's wrong about Chislic (South Dakota).

Unless whomever made it for him did it wrong.

It's deer loin cubes, deep fried for only about 45 seconds at 350* (medium rare-medium)

Sprinkle some seasonings on it when you take them out. YUM.

Shrimp and grits is da bomb and spot on. At least here in the lowcountry. Once you get up into Columbia and the upstate, you really don't see it at all. So I wouldn't say it represented the entire state. I'd say fried chicken or fried fish or catfish stew or boiled peanuts would represent the entire state better. Even peaches or peach cobbler.

This guy is stupid, because he thinks the chicken fried steak is made with a good cut of steak. Otherwise, he wouldn't say

Because, y'know, when you're having a steak, you definitely need some heavy breading and thick, greasy gravy to make sure you don't come away with an empty stomach

I think Neb got snubbed, I just made some meat pies, my German grandmother called them bierock, because they are so fucking good, it's soul food from the hinterland.

Hell yeah, there is really something special about shrimp and grits, I do think it is more a south coastal specialty, we love em down in FL.

:suds:

I never had boiled peanuts until I lived in FL, I love those too, make mine spicy hot.

Washington should have Dungeness Crab instead of lame salmon

author of the article sounds like a dilettante when he talks about that which he does not know

Im a sucker for Chimichangas. How can you not enjoy meat and cheeses wrapped by fried dough, then covered with more cheese?

Oh and that Cincinnati chili! You either love it or hate it. I can't go a week without Skyline.

The Testicle Festival is just a few hours south of here.

Bunch of obnoxious bikers and whores in a wee town once a year that consists of a bar/gas station.....and that's it.
