If Trubisky doesn’t play well consistently in games by the end of the year I will be on board with you. But Nagys offense is complex. He looked great when he knew the offense. He looked shitty when they started mixing it up. He needs time to master the offense.

You are assuming he knew the offense only when he was playing well, which was the one lone series. You actually think Trubs doesn't know the offense and still Nagy let him play only 1 series the entire preseason? Trubs knowledge of the game has never been a question. He knows this offense. He couldn't execute. Go watch the game again, I have it taped and saw it twice. When he had to sit in the pocket and throw vertically, he was either inaccurate or couldn't find anyone open for THREE QUARTERS.

Stop making excuses. Occam's razor.

I got 15 more games to analyze. He’s still young, but the excuses are running thin. I am waiting to base my opinion until the end of the year. If he doesn’t get it by then, I’ll be on board with you. What I saw was he did great while the offense was scripted. After the first two drives he sucked. I think he just needs to master the offense.

Lets be clear, I'm not saying Trubs is no good. I was very high on him. But he looked downright awful. Of course we will all know for certain at the end of the year. I'm just hoping it was just opening day jitters or something, anything. Hey, maybe nobody was indeed open for 3 quarters.

What other options do we have? I bet we see a lot of improvement throughout the year.

This one hurt, no doubt about it.
Here's my Jekyll and Hyde take:

1) Mack and Roquan were essentially not around in preseason and made immediate impacts. They still need to get in football shape.

2) Why didn't Fangio put more pressure on a clearly hobbled Rodgers? Conspiracy? If it was to throw more defenders into the secondary, that scheme failed.

3) Nagy is a rookie head coach calling his first game in a difficult stadium to win at. Not many veteran coaches win there.

4) Why did we sign Trey Burton as a feature TE and then in one of the most critical situations, we put Sims on the field?

5) Trubisky started his first game in Lambeau with a new offense and new weapons around him. Didn't help that when we needed 4 yards, his targets positioned themselves 1 yard shy of the first down marker. These new additions are supposed to be better than that.

6) Rodgers is great. But when a defense gives up nearly 300 passing yards in a half, then something is wrong on defense.

GO BEARS.

That 3rd and short pass to Sims, who ran his route almost 2 yds short of the marker was a critical failure in the second half. Bears were moving the markers fine on that drive. That killed any steam we were building.

I don't buy this not being in shape bs. We're not running a marathon. When they get tired, they take a breather as their subs work. Mack wasn't effective in the second half because Bulaga is very good and he made adjustments. Simple as that.

Because blitzing Rogers usually doesn't work and he would have carved us up more.

3) Nagy is a rookie head coach calling his first game in a difficult stadium to win at. Not many veteran coaches win there.

Doesn't erase the fact we should have won there.

Trubisky could not thrown down field. He looked like Shane Matthews out there with better wheels. GB noticed this and covered everything under. Trubisky tried going over the top a couple times but missed badly both times.

I didn't say they were out of shape, but I did say "football shape." Missing most of preseason hindered that whether you buy it or not.

Carved us up more by not blitzing? 300 yards was painful enough. So if blitzing was not in the plan, what was our defense doing besides getting sliced and diced? (And I wouldn't credit Bulaga. For all the talk of Rodgers' quick release, he sure takes a lot of hits.) Packers adjusted. We should have adjusted to their adjustment.

Agreed, we should have won.

I'd like to think he deliberately overthrew them if there was nothing there. Which to me is a good sign of a QB not forcing his throws.

And if we would have blitzed and Rogers carves us up you would be here saying, why did we blitz, we were successful in the first half not blitzing.

If you think Trubs deliberately overthrew our receivers then you have a very limited understanding of this game. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is and isn't deliberate.

Question. What does football shape mean to you?
