We are way above the rest of the NFC West for age of starters.

Don't worry. That's only because the rest of the NFC West is terrible. The Niners' only old starters are Justin Smith and Goodwin (whom I'd like replaced anyway). Moss too if he's a starter.

I think Justin Smith has a portrait of himself in the back of his house that ages dramatically while he stays the same.

yep, the future is now.

this team basically started with the 2005 draft, so '05 to '07 are clear vets by NFL standards. most of these guys are likely past the halfway point of their careers - Gore, Vernon Davis, Staley, Willis, Macdonald, Haralson, Walker, Brown, and Goldson? yep, 2008 was a bad draft with only Grant left.

some guys will keep father time at bay, but in the larger picture we do have an older team. this is where the draft is so huge, we can't afford a bad or even poor class. we don't have a H-O-F QB to take up some slack.
