Yeah, reading that everywhere. Just don't get it. Even if you don't love Garrett I think Trubisky is a bad pick for Cle
I know. Cleveland does what Cleveland does. Sad thing is there is a very real possibility that he could have still been available when they pick again at 12. The Browns like to over reach... that's for sure.

Bad browns. They need to trade 12 and 33 to Tennessee to move up to 5.

This whole topic comes down to qb evaluation. If Trubisky is the only guy then they have to take him. If they have 3 first rounder QBs then they can wait on it. I do think the Browns planned on taking a QB this year when they started the rebuild last year.

Next years qb class is much better, Browns are being stupid taking Mitch. Typical Browns decision

NFL Draft Prospects

Looking at that...I strongly disagree.

Trub is easily the best QB in either draft pool right now.

And it really isn't that close.

Couldn't disagree more. This is a weak QB class--Trubisky, Watson, Mahomes, Webb. At first glance, next year's class is potentially MUCH stronger, and it really isn't that close--S.Darnold, J.Rosen, J.Allen, M.Rudolph.

Plenty legitimately think Mitch is the QB1. In fact- in Zierlein's grading system- he's on par with Jameis Winston as a prospect.

Lord the hype this kid is getting. His numbers are nowhere near Jameis' in his 1st year as a starter. Oh and no natty either

Key word is potentially. Going into last year, people thought Watson and Kizer were special.

You also dont know when a guy is going to be like Luck or Mariota and stay in college another year.

the only one of those I'd even consider over Trub is Darnold.

And you're banking on being historically awful again to land him

Banking on the Browns to be one of the worst 3 teams in the NFL isn't much of a gamble.

And if the Jags continue to be inept, they will probably be right there and looking to get out from Bortles.

If you don't get Darnold, you're downgrading in a pretty clear way from Trub.

That's a heck of a risk for both the Browns and your GM career.

I mean, it kinda is considering what they have in this draft.

They *should* be pulling at least 4 starting level players out of this draft.

Certainly, the browns shouldn't be passing on a Qb simply b/c ONE Qb who MIGHT be in next year's draft, but that's the assumption you're basing your post on (Darnold > all). I think the reality is different. You risk your GM career when you pass on a player the overwhelming majority have rated as the best player in the draft (at a position of need) to take a Qb in a weak QB class. Like this one. Better to wait until next season when the class should be much stronger.

If Hue is hell bent on getting a QB this season, he's better off to trade the 12 for Grop than use 1 on Trubisky. Next year's draft class will be stronger at Qb and guys like Cousins and Grop will be more available than they are now. I just don't see the Browns passing on Garrett.

The key word is "should". The reality is more like "could".

Me neither, though I suspect that it would be difficult to finish in last place again if they get Garrett and fix their secondary with the draft. Kessler isnt a franchise QB but he is good enough to get the Browns to 5 wins with a serviceable team.

Ultimately, I think their first 3 picks will come down to:

Scenario 1: Garrett/Mahomes/Good secondary player
Scenario 2: Trubisky/Taco/Good secondary player
Scenario 3: Garrett/Trubisky. Third pick lost in a trade

Which door do you go down? That 2nd door doesnt look that bad to be honest

The class as a whole is strong. But how many are better prospects than Trub?

One.

Just one.

Which is why you deal up from 12.

Also, only awful franchises trade a premium pick for one year of Jimmy G. That's a horrible move. Get Trub. he's better.
