If I were the colts. Which I am not. I’m milk. But if I were the colts, I would go to Carolina and say we will give you a 4th rounder for Matt corral. See if they bite. If they do then you have a young back up with potential. And I can see Carolina doing it now that they got baker.

I know it seems odd. Didn’t say Carolina would accept it, especially since they gave up a third to get him. But by them getting baker I think it complicated the corral experiment. Just think a team like the colts should see. Can’t hurt.


Or maybe I read way too much into the baker move. The way I see it, if he is good then it is his job for the future. If he is bad they will go back to darnold until late this season. But if they are a top draft pick which will happen if their qbs suck then they may skip the corral experiment all together and go directly to a first round qb. I just feel like baker clogs it up too much.

And if they don’t showcase corral at all a 4th is better than anything they will get for him.

its just bad precedent to set to start even entertaining dealing away guys you just drafted, for less draft capital than you spent to draft them in the first place, before you even get a look at them in a real situation. I mean at least some preseason games, a spot start, something. Gives that player a stigma too, 'must be something wrong with him if they sold him for less and didn't even give him a good look'.

I totally get it if after year one you trade a guy you spent a day one or two pick for a lower pick..you've evaluated him and deemed him to not be worth your investment..cool

I get that. I just think it is wise to look around and see if teams think less of their players now than before.

And feel like this could easily be that. Where a team I less interested in their player now because they lmproved there by another means.

We do it in fantasy football all the time. How often does someone send you a trade offer immediately after you pick a player up thinking that whoever that person replaced will be sold at a bargain price, because you don’t need him anymore??

I'd bet Panthers give away Darnold before Corral, they've seen what Darnold brings and it was so uninspiring they drafted a 3rd rd QB then traded for Baker.

If Baker sucks, I think the rook will have just as much of a chance as Darnold to take over

Probably more accurate. But nobody is going to trade for darnold. So he kind of needs to play for Carolina to be able to get rid of him.

Well I can't imagine it was anybody that is on this thread if it was that awful, but now I'm really curious although it might be fun to guess. Can we at least get a position of the player?

I was approached about my interest in acquiring a handcuff RB, my offer was declined with no comment or counter for a few weeks, than I got an offer of that cuff + a young WR for one of my starting players and my '23 1st
