I'm feeling this way too. I don't think Kassian should be afforded any benefit of the doubt but this really wreaks of piling on to save face for a move you shouldn't have made to begin with.

...what am I missing here? He's on a short leash, this is seen as his umpteenth wake up call, he's a distraction. For getting into a car accident in which he was a passenger?

Not good, but not really in the realm of "this guy's fucked". Doubt he was the only NHLer getting one last rip in on the final weekend of camp with no games for 4 days.

But now that we know he was in stage 1 of the treatment program and everything, the reaction makes a lot more sense.

But what you've just showed me here is that a guy can be suspended without being arrested for anything. I WONDER IF THERE'S ANOTHER CASE WHERE SUCH A THING SHOULD APPLY.

That's also a valid point. Does the league or a team put a guy into that program? I mean, maybe because his only run in with the law was awhile ago (pre-sexual assault)? Maybe it wasn't around in that CBA?
