Be quiet, Jazz Twitter. I'd rather compare him across all rookies in history through their first three starts. That would be more meaningful.
If it is about nine assists per game, it is meaningful. Of course, if it’s four games, it is more meaningful. If it is more than 9 assists, it’s more meaningful. If it’s for a whole career like Stockton, it’s the most meaningful. I mean, I am impressed that Stockton is the all-time leader, but I like assists enough that I am impressed on the number, even if he hadn’t been the all time leader. (If I’m BBClo someone else were the leader, I’d be impressed with the assists itself, but not that he’s the leader.) Obviously, being number one provides context, but I don’t particularly care about other teams, or players from other teams.
Skylar Mays has 3 starts in his career, and has 26 assists in that span.
That’s not 27.
