Haven't copied and pasted anything? Are you freakin kidding me?

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...discussion/55028-aggie-again.html#post1403614

Post #14. I called you out for that butthurt rant of yours and you said you didn't write it. So which is it? Were you butthurt then or are you lying now?

What you post doesn't bother me at all. I will continue to laugh about your obsession over everything A&M, and how you have to run here with every little rumor or story that you read.

And your next discussion "like a man" will be your first.

LOL!

SHOW ME IN THIS THREAD WHAT HAS BEEN COPIED AND PASTED.

Man, you really ARE the most butthurt poster on this board.

See, I have no problems discussing college football with no other fan on this board but YOU - because you're a little bitch that can't simply discuss the merits of the discussion being had.

You get your panties in a bunch anytime we discuss A&M. Sucks to be you.

Discuss football, let's do it. Baseless bullshit pouring out of your mouth...not going there with you. No one except your little fag TU buddy discusses anything with you. 99% of the board ignores your dumb ass, as I should except I like to see you dance around like a puppy on a leash and get all worked up over "aggy".

Well A&M has two endowments of over $1billion. Last number reported were that they were worth just north of $6billion. That's not money sitting in the bank and not only for athletics, but A&M isn't hurting for money. Also having an alumni base north of 300k helps as well. Maybe Lowry Mays wants to name the other zone afterhimself, he alone could bankroll it. I believe the CEO or some head guy at Walmart is a former student as well.

There is plenty of money at A&M.

There is plenty of money at the university, not the athletic department.

Stop living in delusion. The Athletic department STILL has to pay back the university the 16 million it's borrowed. That's not an org thats awash in cash.

If they had "plenty" of money, they'd simply pay Sherman his buyout and move on.

Let's get past this. YOU know they have money issues, and WE know it. Stop being Aggy.

Who would you like them to hire? I don't really think Sumlin is the guy, but I don't know who else you guys are going to get, waiting around like this while every other guy out there takes other jobs. Petersen would have been a great get......did A&M offer him?

Why lump sum something when you can draw it out? Do you pay all of your taxes up front? Only a moron would. Let the money sit in your accounts. Maybe that is what they are doing.

You don't know A&M's finances any better than I do, despite what you read on other message boards.

I don't want Sumlin. Not sure who I want. There are some interesting names out there that aren't likely, but I don't have to make the decision. Peterson and Richt are big names. I think that is what we will go after, a name. I don't pretend to have any insight, because message boards are notoriously full of crap and anyone can tweet anything. When there is ink on the paper, I'll discuss our next coach. I'm not going to get worked up over something I have no control over, nor am I going to debate the merits of coaches that might or might not even be an option.

And I think I read somewhere that A&M football in 2010 had a profit of $6M. Couldn't produce a link, but pretty sure I read that. Probably not the first time to turn a profit.

Oh, I'm sure they turn a profit. But they OWE 16 million to the university, because they didn't have the money. This is fact. Stop burying your head in the sand. They have to pay a 20 million exit fee, PLUS Sherm's buyout, PLUS the new HC money. And if they sign a sitting HC from another school, they have to pay THAT buyout money as well. They are nowhere NEAR that far in the black. You and I both know this.

I just find this entire search interesting. Not from a "who will they hire" perspective, but from how they've completely neutered Byrne. From everything I've seen, he's built a very competitive athletic department in most sports. But they've never really allowed him to run the football program, I can not understand WHY this is acceptable to A&M fans.

WHY is Loftin and the BOR involved? Slocum?

I think this is why A&M will have a very DIFFICULT time getting a big name coach. WHO wants to coach somewhere where the AD gets undermined by the president of the university, a man who knows SQUAT about football? I"m not sure most aggie fans I know understand how bad this looks to everyone else.

Honestly, I don't really care how it looks. I'm a floating on a cloud a little right now, so I'll be 100% honest. A&M hasn't done jack shit in football in over a decade, and then we weren't doing much. Not like we have this national pedigree reputation to uphold. So who cares who is calling the shots? I'd prefer that Bush hadn't taken our best school president away from us, but hey...the country needed him. I'm happy with the move to the SEC, and I don't expect big things from them any time soon. Be competitive, that is all I want. New coach, new conference, new foes, it will be a trainwreck next year. Young teams and turnover aren't that big of a deal when you have all those other moving pieces.

As for getting a big name coach in, I don't see why not. A&M has money. As I have said, neither of us know for sure what the finances of the athletic department are. We can infer from what we hear and what we think we know...but we are just observers. I seriously doubt that the athletic department would fire someone without being able to hire someone else. And I seriously doubt getting the money to bring in a coach is an issue. A&M is now in the SEC, where coaches get exposure. They are the only team that can recruit Texas kids to the SEC while staying in Texas. I can promise there were not many kids signed to A&M because they wanted to go against UT or OU. I could see a kid from Texas being on the fence between UT and A&M and being sold on the chance to play on national TV multiple times a year while going up against top schools. You want to get drafted...get on TV. You want to be on national broadcast TV and not a cable channel, come to A&M.

I've rambled enough. I'll call this quits with a brief summary: You and I know only what we read about finances, so I guess we just have to agree to disagree. As for how we do in the SEC, well that is why we play the game. Gilbert was a can't miss recruit that didn't pan out. I remember when A&M won the recruiting battle for McNeil and UT had to settle for Vince Young. That is why they play the game on the field and not on paper or in a recruiting video.

That can say #1 all day long, I seem to remember that UT and A&M both wanted McNeal, and A&M got him then you got Young. It was a while ago and I'm not in my right mind so maybe I'm mistaken. But seems like McNeal was the more sought after QB that year.

I'll put this succinctly then - your AD is broke. They may have CREDIT, but it's clear they don't have money. You don't borrow money if you have it.

They're also going to be trying to get out of the exit fees, because they don't have the money.

Having credit, and having cash are two separate things.

And you're right, you guys haven't done squat in, well decades.

There are plenty of reasons why the job is not that attractive.
1 - your AD is not in charge. He's being undermined by the school President and the BOR. That's enough to give any big name pause.

2 - you WILL suck for several years, especially at home. A depleted roster going into a tough conference is not a selling point

3 - unrealistic expectations.....you know better than anyone what a "special breed" your fanbase is. It will not take long to turn on the HC when the wins aren't coming fast enough

4 - You will most likely lose most recruiting battles with Saban, Miles, Petrino, and Muschamp in your backyard while the team is getting pounded.

5 - no winning tradition

6 - A&M has been a coaching graveyard, nobody leaves that job better off, most never coach again

Your job is a tougher sell than many of you like to believe. And recruiting, no matter what you think, will not improve without wins. Doesn't matter what conference you're in, how much you're on TV, or anything else. WINS matter to recruits more than just about anything outside of proximity to home. Texas can always sell the fact they have a better chance of making a title game, the fact they put more kids in the pros than every SEC team, and A&M can't. That's going to be tough to get around, ESPECIALLY when Saban and co. come knocking on that kids door as well.

I'm not sure you Aggies REALLY understand just how far down the hole you are. This is why I say you have a failure in leadership.

I'm still trying to figure out why the AD isn't making the football decisions.

It's going to be Kevin Sumlin......watch. Then they'll all say he was the only REAL candidate anyway, and that they never offered the job to anyone else. I've seen this from Aggy before. It's pretty obvious by now Sumlin is the only man that will take the job.

According to the Houston Chronicle...Kevin Sumlin will get the job because Mark Richt turned A&M down.
