The problem is, the lower you go in the draft, the higher the chance of landing guys who were very similar to players we had on our team last year. Guys similar to Xavier Henry. Fun to watch but won't lead us into the playoffs.

If we're going down that road we might as well look into the free agents and keep the 7th pick for a young, powerful PF

I for one hate it when teams trade down. Keep the #7 pick and move on. The Rams do that most of the time and they are barely a .500 team.

What's wrong with grabbing the best player possible? Are you afraid the team might win?

Some rumors that could get "Exum to LA" fans excited. It was assumed that Orlando would pick Exum because they need a PG, but there's a growing belief that the Magic are very high on Marcus Smart. If Orlando takes Smart, that leaves Utah and Boston which both have PGs (Burke and Rondo), opening the possibility that Exum slips to LA at #7.

Let's hope so, but i see it as a very small chance.

I wonder if Exum's agent will try playing the "don't draft him, he won't sign with you" card that Kobe played when the Lakers got him with the 13th pick.

Exum needs to force his way to the Lakers and learn from one of the greatest. He can either go to Los Angeles and learn from Kobe or go to Orlando and suck for years. I think I know which destination he prefers :suds:

If the Lakers do indeed choose B. Scott as the Lakers head coach and he lures Kyrie to the Lakers, what is the likelihood we then select Exum if he falls to us? It does boggle the mind.

If the Lakers believe he's the best player left then he should be taken. Nothing wrong with having 2 combo guards.

I'm trying to think of a team that actually traded a top 10 pick to get multiple picks in the same draft. In the NBA the higher the pick the better the chance he'll be a rotation player.

I don't see that scenario playing out. I think you have it backwards. Kyrie would have to be traded before the draft and the Cavs have no incentive to do so. He's a year away from restricted free agency. He can't go anywhere this year. And because he would be a "restricted" free agent in 2015, Cleveland can match any offer he gets, thus preventing him from leaving. All of that happens AFTER the draft, conceivably even a year after the draft.

FWIW, even if LA drafts Exum, it's not a deterrent from getting Irving at a later date. Exum is big enough to play 2-guard and some scouts actually believe he's more suited to be a 2-guard than PG anyway.

Exum learning from Kobe for a couple of seasons and then bring in Irving right about the time Kobe retires.......not bad, imo.

He would certainly be the bpa at 7. I, for one, would take him #1 over Wiggins. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but he is my highest draft grade.

Based on what? A Youtube mixtape? There's no way anyone should have Exum ranked #1. Even NBA scouts have limited viewings of him. And for that reason, he carries a huge risk. Because while his skill set may lend itself to high upside, the total lack of knowledge on him carries a large risk. No one really knows how well he stacks up because he hasn't faced known, quality competition yet. My view on him is he's either going to be great (all-star teams) or be a total bust with little in between. At #7, he's probably worth the risk. But I'm sure if LA wants to win soon, they may consider not taking him. They can't afford to miss on this pick and a guy like Exum definitely carries a high amount of risk.

I'm actually interested in seeing if he falls what LA will do. Will they take him or trade the pick for a starter worthy player and a late round pick. For example (and this not very likely), Chicago needs to dump salary if it wants to make a run at Melo. So if they traded Gibson and #19 for LA's #7, what would happen? LA gets a starter in Gibson and still gets a pick. Chicago dumps Gibson's salary in exchange for #7 (a cheaper, rookie level deal). If they view Exum being that hit or miss, a deal like that could be very enticing.

Julius Randle will be working out with the Lakers today:

Lakers News And Rumors: Julius Randle Will Workout For Team On Tuesday | Lakers Nation

I like the guy. Very NBA ready and could be a good double-double guy for us. If we get Vonleh, good, we manage to get Exum even better but we have to remember he's basically a "free" player.

Same here shaqdaddy. However, I saw this awhile ago and not sure people have made mention of it or not. I saw some mocks where he's fallen some because of this.

This could be a blessing to us. Some mock drafts had the dude as high as the 4th or 5th pick. He might drop to 7th now for us to grab.

Injuries are always an issue but he's still young and I don't believe he has a history of injuries . Plus the season is over 4 months away.

Lets hope!
