He did adjust his outfield late in the game for defensive purposes. I sure wish one of our previous managers had done that once upon a time.
@Nightcrawler I listened to a podcas today and they stated Woody and Wash were coaches and Wash a great coach. But Bochy was called a manager. There is a difference

Being a manager in the NL for so long I think we will see a lot of moves like this from Bochy. I have always thought of him as one who takes individual players and creates a good team concept from those individuals. He knows how to plug them into specific roles when needed.

I remember one year we traded for this outfielder from Colorado just so we could stick him in center field in the later innings. Not sure who was manager then.

Think back to our last few playoff runs that were successful and some that were not. We won in spite of the managing.

the Giants and cardinals had better managers than us, but it’s probably not the main reason we lost those series. I’d put Jim leyland above wash as well. Joe Girardi vs wash is a push in my opinion.

banister was 2-6 against the jays and lost 6 in a row to them so I’d give the edge to the jays manager. Whoever he is. I think it speaks volumes that neither wash or banny have been hired as managers since they were managers here. JD did a lot of things right, but I think he wasn’t good at hiring managers.

long story short is that we finally have a manager that we can trust to make good calls for us during games. I’m sure not all the buttons Bochy pushes will be successful, but I wouldn’t bet against the guy very often either.

It is a good thing they kept Duran on the team so he could sit at least two-thirds of the time.

So one of your hottest hitters in spring training is just going to be a bench sitter.
They are taking care of that by sitting him so he won't be as hot. Then over a couple of weeks at some point in the near future, he will go 2 for 16 and they will send him down. It is a vicious cycle.

Yes I want to see Duran. But today with Garver catching who do you bench? Miller or Grossman who had HRS yesterday or Jung or Smith? Especially against Wheeler
