The East has become the Celtics and whole bunch of above average but not elite. Everybody has some level of holes in their group.

I know it's still early, but standings like these where the the 9 and 10 seeds are 5 or more games out of 8th and 8th is only 7 games out of 1st are why I hate the play-in tournament. If the season ended today, Chicago and Brooklyn have no business getting a playoff shot.

5 teams with the exact same record.

What are the odds of that happening this far into the season?
There’s a lot of parity in the East. A bunch of teams that are one player away from being legit. I would put the Sixers, Pacers, Knicks, Heat in that group. Cleveland needs to get healthy and maybe sacrifice Mitchell for depth when Garland comes back. Orlando is on a growth arc somewhat similar to OKc last year (without the huge upside OKc had )

Fair commentary. I expect Nets and Bulls to be sellers in the next month as well so they will drop further. Put ATL in there as a potential seller as well.

Yeah, just saw that and deleted mine lol.

Hersheys always on the mind of PA residents.
That’s where they used to host the PA HS football championship games when I was still coaching. That weekend in Hershey was best ever.

ATL probably doesn't consider themselves a seller (at least publicly), but they should definitely be in the trade market to move one or more of their starters.

Report recently that everyone is on the table except for Trae and Jalen Johnson.

The Trae/Murray fit looked bad from the start. Hunter got paid more than I thought he was worth, was a surprise. It seems like there are Capela rumors every year. Are they including Bufkin in those rumors? Wanted him in the draft...

Hoping the heat can pull away a little with the favorable home stretch they are in. Starting last night, 13 of the next 18 are at home

It's really weird to see the 8th place team closer to the 2nd place team than they are to the 9th place team. 82 games should be enough to establish a top 8 slot, Then again, I feel the same about MLB. 162 games to earn a spot should get you a full length play off series. 3 division winners and a wild card should be enough. Some support the surprise factor that a hot team can bring to the playoffs, but it devalues the regular season more and more as you add playoff spots.
