A better take from thunder would be 'yeah I know it's probably gonna be Jokic but weird things can happen so maybe a small chance'.
[/QUOTE]

What I will say is if Thunder are the #1 seed then SGA should be MVP. I already made my case for SGA a few weeks ago so I won't repeat myself but yeah if they end up with a better record/#1 seed out West then give it to him

Wouldn't that mean Tatum should get it?

Looking at OKC remaining schedule, they're likely going to end up with 56-58 wins in a year they were projected to win 44ish games.

If you don't give it to SGA this year then when will he ever get this award? Him repeating the same year next season while OKC goes 54-28 as a 3 seed won't get him shit. This should be his year but it won't be

No. Tatum doesn't have a case for MVP. Boston would win 50+ games without him as the talent on that team is crazy. He isn't top 5 most valuable players in the league and is only in the top 5 because of how good Boston is. Guys like Sabonis and Brunson are ahead of him for me

My current MVP top 5 would look like this

1) SGA
2) Jokic
3) Luka
4) Sabonis
5) Brunson

thunder you are one of the OGs here, and a very astute basketball fan and close follower of the NBA. I get repping your team but why do you have takes like this that are obviously not correct? You aren't some idiot casual OKC homer, you know damn well it's gonna be Joker again. What gives?
I don’t speak for Shaq, he told everyone who to vote for. Hey, I can hold out hope. I know it’s 90 percent Jokic is going to win, but the way these voters twist in the wind let’s see what blows the rest of the way.

Unfortunately, your guy has no chance because he isn’t an analytics darling.

Yup all he is doing is putting up numbers comparable or better than Jordan and Lebron when they won their first MVPs.
The new rules: Shai has to average 8-10 RPG if he wants to win MVPs now. That’s how you have to juke the analytics. In that world they give a Big 1.8 points for the same assist Shai gets 1 point for. The other side is Shai gets 1.7/1.8 points for every rebound he gets because he’s a guard. This is what happens when you invite math fags to determine shit that matters in pro sports.

Story shouldn’t matter

He’s simply not as good as jokic this year

Jokic hasn’t even been as good as past Jokic this year.

And?

It’s a single season award

It’s you against the field

Joker still laps the field in a “down” year

Much like when Mike trout only lost mvps when Cabrera did something historic like a triple crown, it will take something big to knock jokic down

“Something big” - voters stop leaning exclusively on math formulas to determine shit in sports.
