I don’t really see how steroids translate to basketball, personally.

There are some (Mecca mentioned HGH) that could be used to assist with recovery from injuries. I've also heard that low dosages for a short period of time may increase strength without adding too much bulk. But even that is somewhat suspect as players can use weights to achieve the same results.

It's not like, for example baseball, where steroids can turn a guy with "warning track power" into a prolific home run hitter.

For a basketball player, it's a big risk for something that isn't really going to help much.
