You're correct. Jason La Canfora saying the Browns feel optimistic about landing him.

How much cap do they have left? Earl went public about wanting to be seriously paid, which likely means Landon Collins money.

Even after the ODB trade, they've still got over $50m of space left. My guess if they don't give him a Landon Collins length deal, but I bet they give him a front-loaded 3-year offer.

3 $42-45 is my guess and like you said front-loaded and a lot guaranteed

I think $45m is probably a fair number, and I could see them guaranteeing somewhere around $27-28m. That kind of offer should be more than enough to get him to Cleveland.

My one question is, which one of Thomas and Randall plays free safety? Both play this position naturally, so they need to figure out who would play strong safety.

You don't bring in Earl to do anything other than what he flat out excels at :2cents:

And you're probably right, but it's not like Randall is chopped liver. He had a fantastic year last year, but he obviously hasn't been on Thomas' level. Then again, he did play out of position in Green Bay, so perhaps making the switch to SS wouldn't be that big a deal.

I really liked Randall at FS BUT Kindred is pretty good.

Earl at FS
Kindred at SS
Randall at CB - fills their need at CB

He played CB at Green Bay and was still good, better at safety imo...maybe he can play SS, he is very versatile or back to CB it is

He was OK at CB, but just really inconsistent. It might help if he's CB2 opposite Ward.

Shut up browns fans. Acting like you can sign anyone you want and just handpick great talent to go with the load of talent you already have

The only signing they got was Richardson pretty much and it was an underrated signing. The big moves have been trades. Earl is interested btw...not sure how close the negotiations are though.

Maybe you can just trade for Patrick Peterson :noidea:

They may actually be better off looking at Clinton-Dix, as he fills the SS spot and would be cheaper than Thomas. I think another name they have to be looking at is KJ Wright. He would be a massive upgrade as a Jamie Collins replacement. With their cap space available, I think both Clinton-Dix and Wright could be had on 3-year deals, and then you just address CB in the draft.

Love K.J., he is aging and coming off an injury-riddled season but massive upgrade. Not sure if they are looking at LB in FA or just in the draft but they need depth at the position.

Just reported on NFL Network that the reported contract talks between Earl and the Browns was false. Not to say they won't go after him, but they haven't been discussing yet.

Draft Schmaft. Sign whoever u need. Draft is a luxury

The draft will still be very important for depth (in case of injuries) and the future when these veterans leave. Having Baker and this young core you want this to last not just 4-5 years but 9-10 years. Still too early but their roster is young and talented on paper.

Not surprised with these rumors this offseason. A lot of false reports. There are other options if that isn't a possibility though and they can spend less.

Eric Berry is still on the market, can't trust that dude though. Hasn't played a full season since 2016, a SS though.
