As usual, I was limited to Gamecast for last night's Pirate win against the Royals. However, I've watched the highlight clip of Barajas sliding home around Quintero 8 or 10 times now. That was an absolutely outstanding play by Barajas..... the situational awareness and the execution both..... enabling him to score on that play. (Hey I know a faster runner would have scored easily, and I also read about Barajas hesitating on the hit to be sure it fell in..... but still..... what a slide!)
I've been down on Barajas since his acquisition, due to his chronically sub-par career offense, and his terrible start just added to my disdain. But, as others have pointed out, he has been performing much better on offense as of late. Apparently, he also deserves some credit for his handling of the pitching staff.
But..... that slide all by itself has made me much more of a Barajas fan. And that means I gotta give more credit to NH for acquiring Barajas.
Hooray for Barajas!!!
Hooray for Huntington!!!
