The fact that our DC got fired after two years says the defense did more harm than good. Or would you disagree??

Nope. I wouldn't disagree with that. The fact still remain though. The defense did do things in multiple games that helped the offense and the team overall to win games.

And given the type of defense we had and the resources or lack thereof that was put into the defense. Hoping or thinking that the defense should've been anything more or better imo was a pipe dream.

Agreed, the defense did do some things to help us win games. But they also did things that caused us to lose games. If the defense was middle of the pack more often than not, we would have made the playoffs. Bottom line is, the defense lost as many games for us as Kirk did, and he actually bailed the defense out more times than the defense bailed the team out.

Sure, as long as you agree that the idea of not keeping Cousins and continuing to chase elite is the worst possible thing we could do long term for this team.

Kirk is not elite in my opinion, so I'm not advocating a "chase for the elite" as you continue to insist upon doing. He's a pretty good QB, I'll even agree that he's the best that we've had in a long time, but that misses the point. The point being, great teams and organizations are constantly in upgrade mode, even at QB. Failing to seek competition at the highest level, turns you into....well.....Washington. (prior to Scott, who cut his teeth under Ron Wolf)

I honestly believe that, if he cares (and like me, I hope that he doesn't) one of the biggest hurdles that this organization on his watch will be to never flinch in the face of backlash from fans and media types, who have grown either too accustomed to losing or too cautious when presented with a halfway decent thing or player on this team.

When is the last time the Giants have tried to upgrade at QB?? You can spin it on the we should always be looking for better. But all you are really saying is, we should still be looking for an elite at the position. Which is great, except for the fact that we have spent so much time and resources looking for an UPGRADE at QB, that we have ignored the rest of the team in the process. And now that we have actually FOUND an upgrade, since he isnt elite... well he isnt good enough.

I won't defend what the NYG's are or aren't doing, again you can defend you assumption about this as much as it pleases you, that doesn't make it true when it comes to the way I see things. I will refer you to an excellent authority on the subject though, his name is Ron Wolf.

BTW: citing the misadventures of this team in it's dealing with player acquisition defeats your argument. Unless you're suggesting no confidence in the new direction under SM, he too comes from a long line of GM's who believe as I do. At any rate, the proof will come in this year's draft. If he takes another QB, that Ron Wolf, Stymie, line of thinking continues.

I read an article that said even with the Skins acquiring Norman and the price paid to get him. The Skins were still at or damn at the bottom of the league when it came to spending their resources on defense. The Skins resources overwhelmingly went to the offesnse side of the ball. There wasn't a snowball's chance in hell the Skins defense was going to be middle of the pack. Not spending so little resources on it and considering what it was the year befiore.

You said at the beginning of the season if only the defense. would've been able to accomplish holding teams to 20 points a game that would be good. They would've been the 9th best team in the NFL in that category had they done so. It wasn't happenin, homey. We were a shitty defense in 2015 and imo we got shittier in one area, DL, (which I personally think is the defense's mosr important unit) didn't imporve any in another area, LBing, and while making a noticable improvement in the secondary with Norman. Slight scheming could simply stay from him and the rest of secondary, in particular safety still had its struggles.

And I'm not sure Kirk bailed out the defense more than the defense bailed out the team. Not saying he didn't as even in the games the defense came up big at the end. I'm sure we could go back and find multiple failures earlier in those games by the defense.

For me I think the best we could've hoped for last year with the defense is that theyn would come up with turnovers at key points or in general in games. And they did early in the season against the Giants and the Browns. They didn't so after those games, but they did something in otrher games I didn't expect, Came up with sacks on the last drive of the game, Minny, 2nd Philly game as examples.

And the offesne hurt the defense and the team at times as well. You don't think Matt Jones fumbling at Det's 2 yd lin didn't hurt the team? If the Skins gat a FG at worst there. Instead of Det taking a 20-17 lead maybe its a 20-20 tie and we go into OT. Hokins missing a 30 smoething yd FG in the Cincy game hurt. And maybe the FG isn't that long is Scherff doesn't commit a 10 yard holding penalty turning a 2nd n 8 at the Cincy 17, Into 1 n 20 at the Cincy 29. Or on Cincy's last drive the defense force and recover a fumble at midfield. What does the offense do with the great feild position. Garcon commits another penalty turning a 1st n 10 at the Cincy 34 intpo a 1st n 20 at the Skins 42. Or if Norman doesn't drop 3 picks in that game including 2 that would'v e been pick 6s.

Bottom line is this. All 3 units and players on all 3 units at one time or another didn't step up or fucked up and the Skins lost games because it. But all units and players on all 3 units did step up and won games at one time or another. The Skins won as a team and they lost as a team.

For sure. Again I dont want to start the debate. I want cousins back again. But to act like Cousins v Rodgers is even a debate is INSANE. And I think thats some of what Breed and I have been talking about. Because really neither of us has been negative about Cousins (despite what some people imagine).

Like I said, you were aiming to get this restarted. Pretty sure we knew your position. You want him back but you want to continuously bitch about him. Congrats, you got it restarted. :trash:

What a ball game, we may not see a better one. I wouldn't be too hard on Garrett, he just took a team led by 2 rookies to the wire with the hottest team in the league with an all timer at QB in a very good comeback.

Throughout these playoffs the team with the better QB, or in the case of Atlanta the QB who played better between 2 very good ones, won and advanced. We see this every January, anyone still claiming you can win big consistantly without a very good QB is simply not paying attention.

LOL. One post here basically states "Not to revive the whole Cousins debate" & sure enough the entire thread turns into a discussion about Cousins. I don't really have a problem with that. However - just realize when you make that type of statement you are basically daring people to go in that direction (maybe that was the intent). Too funny.

Aaron Rodgers is an NFC-E killer in the playoffs. Those teams are 0-4 in the playoffs against Rodgers & the Packers in the last 3 seasons. The Packers are 0-2 against everyone else during that time & 1-4 against other teams in the last 5 years in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the trend continues against the Falcons. I am good with either team making the SB.

Annihilated the Giants one week.

Broke the hearts of the Cowboys the next.

If the Redskins cant get themselves into the playoffs, at least we can watch an awesome qb crush the dreams of two divisional rivals.

Next best thing.

Absolutely especially the Cowboys. They are really hanging their heads down here and I love it. This game also reiterated our need for a pass rusher. The only way the Boys could get pressure was by blizting. We need to address LOS on the Def early and often in this yr's draft. Some young along with a couple of elite pass rushers is paramount. After all Roethlisberger, Brady, Rogers, Stafford, Ryan and Brees are going to be around for awhile.

Really can't troll the Boys too hard on this game, they came to play, at least in the second half. Dak and Zeke are for real and will likely be a PIA for us down the road.

Still most enjoyable to see them lose out at the last second to an injury riddled GB team.

Just really bizarre that the Redskins were the last team to beat the Packers.

I love it. Dallas fans were talking smack all year and just got bounced. Rodgers did make his best throw of his career.

I tell you what, he made a throw while running to his right to a guy who was totally covered earlier in the game that was even better. I had to back that up twice.
