Patton so far with RR has pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits, 0 runs, 11 Ks and0 walks. Got his first win last night. Klein said he was nervous but it was a blast and is glad to get the first one out of the way. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

Very good news on Patton.

And you could almost see how nervous Klein was last night. Anxious to see his next outing.

The majority have the Tigers the winner of the trade deals because of Price but Lester and Price to me are about even. And when you look at what else Oakland picked up in Jeff Samardzija I may lean towards Oakland. That was actually part of the trade deadline they just struck a few weeks early.

I would not have minded trying to get Milone from Oakland.

What do you guys think of Keone Kela? I had not heard of him until I saw him last week, but every heater was 98 or 99. Apparently he's hit 102. 87 mph slider. I'm tellin you, our bullpen situation in the future looks very bright.

I dont think you sign any bullpen guys this offseason. I think you invite all of them to ST and let them all battle it out. Build it solely from within and extend a veteran like cotts.

I have never seen him but keep up with all A level Ranger teams and up everyday and have noticed he is doing well. Has some control issues at time but overcomes it. He will need to correct that before the big Leagues. I hope we see a number of these guys in this season since we are out of it.

Being from Ohio and having left lots of tickets for family and friends, one could expect to have some butterflies. He got the first one out of the way, hope to see him have success. Was a good pick up in the 30th round

Have only seen Kela from box scores and stat lines but looks good from there so far. I think at this point they need to re-sign Cotts, he shouldn't be too expensive to bring back and they need some veteran presence in the pen. Scheppers and Ogando are very concerning for next year and I think you need to mix in a couple proven major league arms vs relying on a BP full of young guys that have proven nothing at the ML level yet. Being young and talented and having success at the minor league level, sometimes takes time to translate to having success vs teams full of major league batters.

I don't know which team did better. Leaning toward the A's too though. It makes for a very interesting post season.

And I don't at all understand why the Twins sent Milone to AAA after getting him. I'm no expert on the Twins pitching staff, but this guy has produced good results in the majors for 2 years.

Milone has been successful this year at the ML level and was a good get for Sam Fuld. Twins pitching has been inconsistent to say the least. Pelfrey and Nolasco are currently on the DL and one would think Milone is better than Correia but I guess they know better than I do. Gibson is still pretty young and learning to pitch to ML hitters and then there is Phil Hughes who has been a model for inconsistent but has shown he can be pretty good in a few games this season. I see Milone likely taking Correia's spot in their rotation in the not to distant future.

Actually this is Milone's 3rd straight season of being successful - not wildly so - in the majors. He's 10 games over .500 for the past 3 years. And although I like Fuld, I think the Twins got the better of the deal by a lot. It's just hard for me to ever want to give up decent to good pitching unless the return is terrific.

This from Jim Bowden:

Jon Daniels, Texas Rangers.....Grade B

Trades: Joakim Soria to the Tigers for Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel; Jason Frasor to the Royals for Spencer Patton.

Analysis: The Rangers were not able to move Alex Rios by the deadline, but they did extremely well in their return for Soria. Knebel should develop into a solid setup man, and Thompson should eventually become a back-end starter for them.

Not too crazy about that 'back-end' stuff but OK. Say the article but wasn't a subscriber. Thanks.

You're welcome.

I was a little surprised he didn't bring up Patton for Farsor. On paper, we did well with this one. He may be in Arlington soon.

And considering what we gave up in Soria, a back end starter is a deal IMO.

Getting a 4th or 5th starter for a closer is pretty solid. 175 IP>64 IP all day.

Two errors in two innings. Gotta take advantage Rangers.
