Sad for Nathan, sounds like he may be done if its another TJ

Sad for the Brewers too

Joe is a really terrific guy and when healthy, a great pitcher as well.

I now wonder what this may mean for Doug Melvin? Another guy I liked a lot when here.

The Brewers might be a good place for Kirkman. They are tanking in a big way right now.

Someone posed this Q to EG on twitter and I figured I'd throw it on here for some discussion, since it's better than acknowledging the pile on my desk. I'll obviously qualify this with the understanding that it's a HUGE hypothetical, but still slightly within the realm of possibility....

Harrison is apparently now progressing to a point where he could be back in July. Let's say that he does. And let's say that Holland recovers from his shoulder injury in the expected time frame and gets back in July. And then there's Perez, who is probably looking at an August return if all goes as it should with him. Again, this all depends on everything going absolutely right with all 3 guys.

But let's say it does. My question is: Would this basically force the Rangers to go with a 6 man rotation?

Unless Harrison is going to be good, I never want him on mound again. It's an awful thing to say, but I want that insurance policy to cover his salary and he's out there throwing 100 innings of shit baseball that helps no one...

Fun fact for Nick Martinez... His bWAR of 1.4 is best in the majors for pitchers and second best amongst all players.

I don't put loads of stock into that, but I doubt many people would have guessed that on April 22nd Nick Martinez would have one of the better starts to the season in the bigs. Would he have made the opening day roster if Tepesch was healthy? I hope he can make the most of his chance this season. If he he can stay healthy he should make 30 starts and pitch close to 200 innings.

Now that Prince Fielder got a HR, we'll see now if the floodgates open.

Good company to be in. Love to have those Braves pitchers back in their prime.

The Mets are the first NL team whose starting pitchers have won 10 of their first 14 games since the 1994 Braves that featured Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz (via Elias).

I think Gallardo is dealt at the deadline or sometime in July. Detwiler will probably go to the pen at some point as well.

Really like what he has been doing and his composure.

Good point about Gallardo. As for Detwiler, my hypothetical didn't even include him :D

Don't see any need for him in the pen.

RD is usually pretty good 1 time through the order. Its the 2nd & 3rd times that he plummets....and hard.
So i'd be perfectly ok with him in the BP.

Might be okay as a situational pitcher out of the pen against lefties. That ball to right handers right now is just asking to be crushed.

To each their own but I just don't see a good fit for him to warrant keeping him.

Bannister says he's staying in the rotation, at least for now. I couldn't believe he was getting another chance. Supposedly he thinks he found the problem when watching film of himself. We will see.

Nope. Announced on Twitter that he's going to the pen and Wandy is joining the rotation.
