I saw the same thing when Dick Tomey (former UT co-defensive coordinator) took over at San Jose State. He cleaned house and in the process, saved the program. I don't think Texas is in any danger of losing their program, but I do think it will be stronger and more respectable with Strong's fingerprints on it.

Tomey was one of the best Mack ever brought in. He was old school, kick your butt coach. In pre-game warm ups, I'd listen to him, could hear him 100 feet away yelling at the players. Bad ass.

I got to see a lot of Dick Tomey (and chat with him on a number of occasions) while at SJSU. He was the kind of guy I would want my kid playing for, Charlie Strong strikes me as the same kind of guy. I was a big fan when Texas hired him - and an even bigger fan when I saw the rules he laid down (and his stomach for enforcing them.)
