I think he has it backwards
Grossman was awful this year against RH pitchers, so that is why Sandler says he will not start against them.

If Bochy going to play Grossman, I hope he doesn’t bat him third.

From Jeff Wilson:

Meanwhile, many baseball writers were noting that Montgomery is a free agent after the season and keeps adding millions to his contract with every solid postseason outing.

They’re not wrong, and the Rangers could again find themselves fighting to re-sign a left-hander coming off a stellar postseason. It didn’t work out well in 2010, when Cliff Lee left for the Phillies. (C.J. Wilson didn’t re-sign after the 2011 season, but he didn’t have a stellar playoff run.)

The Rangers should attempt to keep Montgomery, who is making $10 million this season. The rotation is expected to lose lefty Martin Perez, and there’s always a chance Andrew Heaney could turn down his $12.5 million player option. With Jacob deGrom out until August and the farm system short on options, Montgomery would be a key addition.

Throw a five-year, $100 million contract his way and see what happens.
Monty is worth every bit of $100 million. I'd even give him 5/120 if that's what it took to keep him. He's been absolutely stellar in the playoffs.

I would think it would be Heaney. With a day off tomorrow, he could pitch 2 innings.
I thought when they had Heaney up in 6th last night he was coming in for the 7th and 8th. Same scenario may exist today

I am nervous but do like our chances. I have waited a lifetime for this and the vibe is incredible.

This is a totally different feel right now
Like it is a team on a mission.

Really wonder who is in line for late innings if needed today. Do think and hope Chapman is not first choice. As mentioned I can barely wistful when he is pitching
I grew up in Wash DC and went to Senator games as a little boy. When they moved to Texas I still continued to follow the team. Went to the old park in Arlington several times. Been with this team for all 50 plus years.
Living up here in Pittsburgh I get the MLB package to watch the Rangers. I really like this team as much as the team a decade ago.I
I have that feeling too about this team. These guys seem to really blend well together.
The Montgomery trade is looking like a superb acquisition. I think we all love Carter on this board.
I am with you on Chapman. I actually turned off the tv off a couple of weeks ago when he came into pitch. I just can’t take the stress with him. Reminds to much of the 6th game in the 2011 World Series. Took that loss real bad.
I believe Bochy will use Heaney or Bradford if needed later on for a lefty. Maybe Dunning or Stratton for a righty. Leclerc to close the 9th if needed.

Rangers catcher Liam Hicks made the top spot on Baseball America's AFL Hot Sheet.

1. Liam Hicks, C, Rangers
Team:
Surprise
Age: 24
Why He’s Here: .917/.933/1.083 (11-for-12), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 3 RBIs, 1 BB, 1 SO
The Scoop: Hicks’ huge week centered around one of the best days in the AFL in the last 15 years. The Rangers’ prospect went 6-for-6 against Scottsdale, notching the league’s first six-hit game since 2009. Two days later, he collected hits in his first three at-bats before drawing a walk and then striking out in his final two plate appearances. He self-corrected and went 2-for-2 with two walks two days later. If you’re counting, that’s 15 plate appearances and just one out over the course of three games.

I was thinking Garver will start against all LHP but most will be RHP

Good for you sir. Thank you for staying with our team. Seems to me like this is a team of destiny but as mentioned earlier some may think the same in the other NL cities.
Not sure they have felt the same Ranger pain as many on this board have lived through

I am ready for this to be the year. But yeah it is is a difficult journey especially when Chapman pitches. Watch him surprise us all. Lol. Just not sure I can watch that but we shall see

Wow I was wondering if this would happen
Surely Carter gets in later and he starts the remainder of the series

We need to get to their pitcher quickly

We need to chase Valdez and score at least 5 early

Like I posted last night, Carter is in a better stretch than he has ever been as a pro. It is time to throw out what he used to do versus LH pitching. His defense alone is worth him being in the lineup.

So when Carter goes in he will likely be batting 3rd. Best case scenario we knock our Framber in 1st inning and he goes in for defense immediately
