From Jim Bowden:

Teams that are still in on Roki Sasaski: Dodgers Padres Cubs Yankees Mets Rangers maybe Giants not the White Sox others could be added to list

Definitely a wish list item for me but I am not sure the Rangers are a legit option for him. Padres wouldn't surprise me as a landing spot for Sasaki

Getting to the point where roster construction is winding down
Going to formulate my predictions in a bit
13 pitchers and 13 position players including 5 man bench

Not done but still helps us to see potential gaps/holes
Like to see other thoughts

Would not argue that Pads could be his first choice
Hoping Rangers have some intangibles loke CY JDG and Evo and superior facilities

agree Sasaki would be a nice grab but we need to be concentrating on fixing the bottom of the bullpen right now. i figure without trades we have around 12 to 13M under the cap so just now we couldn't touch what Tanner Scott will get so maybe we need to maybe resign Yates and Robertson which would put us up against the cap. then maybe trade Jon Gray and Leody Taveras for prospects freeing up around 16 to 18M, trade Osuna, Bratt & another for Ryan Helsley and sign an outfielder like Randal Grichuk. that would leave the Rangers around 6 to 8M for Sasaki (if we got lucky)

Rhadigan just said on the DLLS podcast that the new TV package will become official very soon.

Did we ever hear that the Padres visited with Sasaki when he was in the country last month? The last i heard that list didn't include the Padres.

Yeah, they are kinda forced to concentrate on something other than Sasaki right now. By now the homework assignment has been completed.

Frim Texas Rangers PR:

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired left-handed pitcher Mason Molina from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Grant Anderson.

Molina, 21, made his professional debut with Low-A Carolina last year after being selected in the 7th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by Milwaukee from Univ. of Arkansas, tossing 5.0 shutout IP across 2 starts for the Mudcats. The southpaw posted a 3.97 ERA with 11.74 SO/9 over 3 collegiate seasons with Texas Tech (2022-23) and Arkansas (2024).

From Tepid:

Saw this kid pitch for Texas Tech before he transferred and thought he had a solid future. Not as big of an announcement for the Rangers as next week’s Roki Sasaki signing, but it’s cool.

The next 2 or 3 weeks could see the Rangers television situation being decided in a very fan-friendly way, as well as seeing the Rangers sign Sasaki. Hopefully, two very capable late innings relievers will be a part of our activities very soon, as well.

The icing on the cake would be trading Taveras and signing Austin Hays.

I finally got a little bit of an update on Brick Porter. He is healthy and throwing, and his velocity is back up to 95-96 MPH. That is still slightly down from his peak, but is up from this past season. Jeff Wilson seems to think Porter's demise was due to some mechanics changes the Rangers gave him in ST that he never really adjusted to.

Oh, and Porter got engaged this offseason.

I have a feeling we will sign Kevin Pillar. I will tell you why later.

Hopefully, we hear sometime next week that he is coming to visit us. That will be a huge step in the right direction.
