Here are the 2024 Texas Rangers team batting splits vs. RH and LH pitchers. They first numbers are against RH pitchers and the second set is against LH pitchers. The hitting was equally bad across the board.

If the Rangers don't pick up a RH OF bat, who hits against lefties when Evan Carter sits? I guess it would have to be either Taveras or Duran.

Baseball America has expanded their list of top international signings based on bonus money to be paid. I believe last time it was the top 30 players that were included in their rankings. This time it is expanded to their top 50. That allowed an expected Rangers' signing to show up on their list

36. Elorky Rodriguez, OF/INF, Dominican Republic

Born:
Dec. 26, 2007. B-T: L-R. Ht.: 5-10. Wt.: 170.
Team: Rangers

The Rangers have signed several patient hitters who control the strike zone well recently. Rodriguez fits that label. He has excellent plate discipline for his age and has a short swing with good bat path, enabling him to make contact at a high clip. The components are there for Rodriguez to get on base at a high rate and his offensive polish should lead to a good OBP when he debuts in the Dominican Summer League, though it’s mostly doubles power now and his medium frame doesn’t point to him ever being a big power threat. He’s a smart player and a solid-average runner, so the lack of typical center field speed could have him move around all three outfield spots. Over the past year, he has also spent time in the infield, something that could enhance his value if he’s able to find a home at second base or potentially bounce between second, third and the outfield.

From Jon Heyman:

Strong closer market very slow to develop. Scott, Estevez, Yates, Hoffman, Jansen, Maton still out there. Signed so far: Chapman, Romano, Holmes (as a starter)

Sewald and Kahnle also still available. Teams very slow to grab proven relievers this winter. Strange because excellent veteran pen was a key (one of many) to Dodgers title.

Toward the end of the Winter Meetings last week, CY met with the local media to discuss some of the recent things that have happened. About the time they were wrapping up, CY said he guessed he wouldn't see them again until after Christmas. When asked why he said that, he said something about there not being enough time to get something done before then. After a little more discussion CY asked them about the current date. When someone informed him it was the 13th, he replied, "Oh, I thought it was the 18th. Maybe I will see you again before Christmas.'

So, what I get from that, is that CY thought it would take more than 6 days to complete anything they were working on. So, maybe we should expect something between the 20th and the 24th.

That is very good. Perhaps the market not being very hot (so far) will allow Texas to be able to bring back Yates and snag at least one of the other guys. I could just envision Texas with a stable of late-inning relievers along the likes of Yates-Scott-Gray-Webb absolutely shutting down teams in October along the way to WS title #2.
If Texas does go that far and solidifies the pen to such a degree, I'm VERY confident they can make another deep run through the playoffs.

I wonder how good Church is going to be this year. Maybe, Magdaleno will be able to help out later in the year.

If we don't need Teodo in the rotation later in the year, he may be able to come up and work out of the pen late in the year, as well. I don't mind our starting prospects finishing up a year in the pen as long as they are starting most of the season.

From Max Mannis(whoever that is) on Twitter:

Curry saying that the free agent first basemen are asking for more money/years than Yanks are comfortable with right now, so they may pivot to trades

I know of a 1B they may want in trade.
