From mlbtraderumors.com:

Rangers Sign Caleb Boushley To Minor League Deal
"Boushley, 31, has a small amount of major league experience. He made one appearance for the Brewers last year and two for the Twins this year. He has thrown 6 1/3 innings in the big leagues, allowing three earned runs."

"He has naturally had a larger body of work in the minors. Over the past three years, he has made 80 Triple-A appearances, including 77 starts. In his 397 1/3 frames, he has a 4.55 earned run average, 18.4% strikeout rate and 7.3% walk rate."

"He was outrighted off the Twins’ roster in September and was able to elect free agency at season’s end, which has led to this deal with Texas."

I was just thinking last night that this is the kind of moves we would make. I hope I am wrong.
They have to bring in guys like this so they can expose guys like Acker, Stephan and Garcia to the Rule 5 draft.

From Jamey Newberg:

  • MLB Trade Rumors, for what it’s worth, suggests that three of the Rangers’ five arb-eligibles are at least candidates to be non-tendered today:
    • Dunning ($4.4 million projected salary)
    • Sborz ($1.3 million projected salary)
    • Taveras ($4.3 million projected salary)
  • Being a non-tender candidate also makes you a trade candidate — so it wouldn’t be out of the question for some breaking trade news today on a player that the Rangers, or any other team, was on the fence about tendering.
  • Once we have a list tonight of all the non-tenders around the league — there were about 60 such players a year ago — we’ll have a whole new crop of free agents for Texas to consider.

From Jamey Newberg:

  • With 59 prospects added to 40-man rosters around the league, Baseball America includes both Teodo and Santos in its rundown of “10 of the best prospects added.”
  • As for those left unprotected, Baseball America highlights 11 players in the first version of its Rule 5 Draft preview. Very first on the list — which is not alphabetical — is Rangers 1B Blaine Crim (“[t]he hope is he can do what Ryan Noda did for the A’s a couple years ago: provided solid production at first base/DH for league-minimum salary”), while LHP Bryan Magdaleno (“generates groundballs, misses bats and has a good blend of stuff and deception”) is also among the 11.

With the non-tender deadline this evening, there could be several trades around the league.

our one candidate is Taveras. do we place a tender or let him walk?

if we do not pass on him to me it says we aren't going to do anything

The Philies are non-tendering Austin Hays. I wonder if the Rangers would be interested as a platoon match for Carter. Hays hits lefties well. He was injured by various ailments in 2024, but he is just a year removed from being an All Star and a Gold Glove winner.

There are several in the media who think the Rangers will non-tender Dunning. I would rather keep him for starting pitching depth. He was our pitcher of the year a year ago

I think the Rangers really like White and they like Winn as well, but to a lesser extent than White. I think that is why they weren't DFAed earlier this week.

I wonder what Dunning's incentives will amount to.

The Orioles non-tendered reliever Jacob Webb. He put up some good numbers last year. He would make a pretty good inexpensive addition to our pen. He might fit in well in the 6th or 7th inning for us.

I was hoping they would non tender Lowe if he’s eligible.

I think he has too much trade value to simply release. They could still trade him.

Sborz stays.

The deal with Sborz is for $1.1 million + incentives.
