Texas is going to need to go Independent or ditch LHN

That's basically the end game here. Either they scrap the network and keep the Big 12 together, or they join another conference (Pac-12 or Big Ten), neither of which will let them keep the network (in the form they envisioned), or they go Independent.

Am I missing something here or is that basically what it comes down to?

There is no scenario in which Texas is part of a viable, stable, leading college athletics conference and has its own network.

I'm hoping they scrap the network either way, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go independent. If they did that they could keep their stupid channel but possibly still hold on to some of their rivalry games despite teams switching conferences.

But what about all of their other sports? Are they going to follow Notre Dame and be independent in football but join the Big East for other sports? Because I don't see the Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC accepting them as a member ex-football. And they couldn't keep the others in the Big 12, because without Texas football there is no Big 12.
