Jack john that avatar of yours is about the nicest "bubble" yet.

And yes, if a recruit is still not 100% on board or if they are easily swayed this late in the game then its probably not a recruit you wanted on your team anyway.

I post in many other forums and the biggest common factor is that for whatever reason most only look at stars ratings. Which, there may be a bigger chance that the 4-5 star player works out it isnt truly indicative that they will. Player evaluation by the coaching staff plays as much a part of it as anything.

But, some folks seem to think you have to have a team full of 5 star's because thats the only way you will win the national championship. I try to explain to them that that isnt the case at all. If it were then USC, Texas, florida, bama, etc..etc... would win the NC every year! It's really more about coaching than it is anything. I'd say 60% is coaching 40% talent. And in some cases it can be as much as 70% coaching up and 30% talent if you have the right talent at a few key positions. Just take a look at florida or texas. Those two schools were full of 5stars but failed to live up to any expectations. Urban meyer's head wasnt in the game and it showed on the field. Mack Brown has long been known to squander all the 5stars on his teams before he finally had no other choice but to win a Championship with all the talent he had on his team.

Point is you have to trust your coach to be a great evaluator of the talent he is bringing on board to your program. Even if it may not be the highest ranked player in the country the coach may have seen something in the player that others didnt.

didn't need to go here.. neither did CT

Tevin made the best decision for him, but he just said goodbye to his opportunity to play under the best secondary coaches in the country.

I didn't need to go where?

Apparently it happens a lot. Otherwise you wouldnt have commits changing their minds and going with other schools. Bobby Petrino always says that if he can get a recruit to visit chances are he is going to sway them to commit on their visit. Of course most coaches believe that. But, the truth is in the pudding.

Also it helps when you have perhaps the greatest collection of facilities in the country at your school. That alone has quite a bit to do with helping your recruiting. In the Sec it's like an arms race. If one schools gets a fancy schmancy indoor this or that then all the others are soon to follow.. Well, cept for Vandy. They don't care about anything.

At Arkansas they have one of the top football facilities, the top weight room, the top track program, the top baseball facilities, the top indoor and outdoor track facilities, still one of the top basketball facilities and they use it all to their advantage. The only thing that they didn't have was top notch player locker rooms and coaches offices. Which they just finished with all the preliminaries to start construction on a new $120million dollar state of the art facility that will make them tops in america with that as well.

We Hog fans heard for years from our ex- coach Nuttsack "you can't get good players to come" blah blah blah.. When Petrino came on board he showed everyone differently. =-)

It's good when you have a winner for a HC!

Rut Roh.. I was just reading some posts over on another site. Sounds like Charles Jackson, who was a silent commit to Arkansas for a longg time before his sudden switch to Nebraska is rethinking that commit and might be interested in the Hogs again. =-O Wow that would be good news for my Hogs. Not so much for you guys though.

The last month of recruiting gets sooo crazy. You really don't know what you have until after its over. Then after signing day you STILL don't know what you have because you dont know who qualifies and who doesnt! haha.. it's going to get interesting to say the least.

It may not be anything... but i'd read it along with a post saying that 5* LB Anthony Wallace, a recruit that the hogs thought they had wrapped up after he took 5 visits to Fayetteville but then commits to NikeU has decided he may switch his commit to the Hogs. His best friend, who is one of the TOP TE's in america and a Hog commit has got in his ear and is trying to sway him to the Hogs.. Which, ya never know Tevin may have got in Jackson's ear too.. It happens in recruiting.

I have seen nothing about this at all yet

HF, Ive heard the hogs have very nice facilities, I don't doubt that at all, Benton HS also has Olympic quality facilities. However there are certain things with a particular coach at AR that I am not sold on as whole heartily as the rest of the state seems to be. I have nothing against the Hogs and I rooted for them against every team they played in the SEC this year. Im sure Mitchell will do just fine there

CT- Don't be surprised if it happens though. The Jackson kid was a silent commit for the hogs for a long time before he changed it to Nebraska. Like I said the last few weeks of recruiting get weird.

Everyone has their opinions. Me, i've read about Coach Petrino and the situation with the Falcons. I've talked with local sports media personally about it. After hearing what they had to say. I don't blame him for what he did. Nothing was as it was supposed to be. Arthur Blank and the entire Falcons staff knew Vick had got in trouble and wasnt coming back even before it came out about the dogfights. It was just lies upon lies that were told to Petrino.

The whole supposed not facing his players and only leaving a note deal to them when he left. That's not how it went at all. Arthur Blank wouldnt let petrino talk to the players. Funny how that was never talked about in the media. In fact, the owner acted as if he was all fine and OK with everything until Petrino left. Then, being as how Mr Blank Owned Home Depot (which was also a big majority partner/sponser in ESPN) all they did was put negative spin on everything about Petrino and the Razorbacks.

How is that right? When you have a Nick Saban not 2days after giving a heated press conference with miami reporters stating "i am not going to bama!" he is then congratulated and celebrated in tuscaloosa for accepting the Alabama job?? haha Come on man! It happens all the time coaches getting fired mid season by ownership yet you hear nothing about that. The Funniest thing to me was during the whole Florida deal you never heard one bad thing about Meyer. Then, who is the first coach the media starts saying should be #1 for Florida? Petrino.. Gimme a break.. They DID come after BP, but he told them flat out NO on the first day! Petrino signed the big buyout deal with the Hogs to shut the media up about his supposed "job hopping"

Fans may talk bad about Petrino, but make no mistake they'd all take him as their headcoach ina heartbeat! Just remember one thing in life, before you form an opinion on someone just make sure you know the facts first.

And there was my rant for today.. hahaha

Well end the end I hope your right but only time will tell. There is no doubt in my mind that the SEC would turn AR into their whipping post and burn them down in a heartbeat to make an example of how they won't stand for any funny business. It sure is heck will never happen to the good ol boys down in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida

I can't rag on Petrino too much since he has turned out a pretty descent product in a few short years and from what DezMcNutts left

with this logic.. don't be surprised to see Tevin come back to Nebraska, because he was a commit for a long time, and will see other commits he became friends with at the AA game..

I think getting Mr. Santos (going to be a very good LB for us) and likely having his brother Ryan from Klein will help us keep Jackson..

Oh I know.. We had one of the better stories last year with a QB.. committed one night, committed to Western Kentucky the next day, then 2 days later on signing day, signs with us again.. crazy shit.

hey guys. been out of the loop a while. but i did read where Tevin mitchell roomed with Charles jackson and jackson during the AA game said he was keeping his options open and that he was still veryinterested in arkansas. i tell ya what. with all the rumors about Pelini shopping his name around with other schools i wouldnt be surprised if jackson switches to arkansas on signing day now.
