Pork Roast visited Foxboro yesterday and wasn't too happy with what BB and Matt Patricia had to tell him. They told him that were interested in having him try to crack a position on the defensive line, but....the big but, all positions on the Patriots Defensive front 7 or 8 are rotational and the positions are paid as such.

After he left, he tweeted to the world that he is not a rotational player. Some sportswriter tweeted back, doesn't seem that your even being asked to play anywhere else.

Knighton has been in the NFL for 6 years. 3 with JAX, 2 with DEN and 1 with WAS. He's 6'2" 352 lbs according to him. I'm 6'2" 256 lbs and I think I'm fat..........

Of the defensive tackles left, Sammie Lee Hill appears to be the best available wide body, at 335 pounds. Blount still looks like the best available at big RB. The Pats are at about $8M under the salary cap so, if BB wants to do more wheeling and dealing, especially re signing Hightower, Collins and Butler to long term deals, more cap room will be needed.

Will people ever learn not to burn bridges? Let's see if BB still wants him? Lower price or less incentives now?

Terrence Knighton is visiting with BB again in Foxboro today..........and he's got company. Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin tweeted that he wants a chance to play with Tom Brady and will also be in Foxboro today.

I know that Tom Brady sucks and is the worst QB ever to play in the NFL...........BUT............for some unknown, mysterious reason, people want to play with him. Must be those huge ugly rings he wears.

I don't want Harvin. Pats have enough attitude problems. When I heard reports Harvin was talking with 3 teams I was afraid one would be NE:gaah:

Turns out it is very difficult to throw a football with more than 12.5 pounds of air in it when your hand has more than 12.5 pounds of ring on it....

Porky has left the room...........without a contract. WEEI reports that he met with BB for a very short time and left quickly. Supposedly heading back to Washington. He may get another surprise when he meet with the Skins. My guess is that their offer will be less than it was when he decided to go back to NE. Does he sign? Does he excuse himself and call BB? Or does he text BB and ask if the offer is still on the table? Or does he go back in the oven for another 30 min at 350 degrees??

Hmmmmm for him to come back and not sign, the Pats either lowered their offer and now Pork Chop is even more butthurt? I wouldn't think NE pulled their offer entirely? Unless BB wanted a public apology, use multi media via the Patriot way, and lose some pounds?

Or he's trying to play WA against NE? I wonder what his agent is saying/thinking? He's not pulling a Russell Okung is he?

Strange.

Don't know if this is accurate, but NESN is reporting that Knighton has agreed to a contract with the Patriots. If so, my rough estimate, working off Miguel's salary cap data, is that this signing and Clay Harbor will put the Pats about $7M under the cap.

The New England Patriots finally added their sought-after veteran defensive tackle.

Terrance Knighton chose to sign with the Patriots over the Washington Redskins on Thursday, ESPN’s Dianna Marie Russini was told. The Patriots previously tried to sign free agents Akiem Hicks and Nick Fairley.

Knighton, 29, started 15 games with the Redskins last season, recording 29 tackles with 1.5 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 354-pound defensive tackle has 230 career tackles and 14 sacks in seven seasons.

Knighton, nicknamed Pot Roast, came into the NFL as a third-round draft pick out of Temple by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009. He played with the Denver Broncos in 2013 and 2014.

Knighton is a New England native. He was born in Hartford, Conn., and attended Windsor (Conn.) High School.

Knighton could start next to Malcom Brown in the Patriots’ four-man defensive front. He primarily played on early downs last season for the Redskins, which suited his strengths as a run defender. The Patriots rotated their defensive line, which consisted of Brown, Alan Branch, Dominique Easley, Hicks and Sealver Siliga, last season.

Hicks and Siliga are gone, which leaves Knighton, Brown, Branch, Easley, Frank Kearse, Chris Jones, Ishmaa’ily Kitchen and Joe Vellano on the Patriots’ current roster. Easley is a passing-down specialist, while Brown split his time between early and passing downs in 2015, his rookie season.

Adding Knighton lessens the Patriots’ need for a defensive tackle in the 2016 NFL Draft. They also added Kearse this offseason.

Nose tackle Terrance Knighton has informed the New England Patriots that he will be signing with the team, although no contract has been signed yet, a source told ESPN's Dianna Russini.

Knighton tweeted Thursday that he had made a decision, then later sent out a picture of himself wearing a Patriots helmet.

The Patriots have been searching for veteran depth at defensive tackle after two of their top backups last season, Akiem Hicks (Chicago Bears) and Sealver Siliga (Seattle Seahawks), signed elsewhere in free agency.

Last week, they visited with former Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Nick Fairley, who later signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The Patriots return starters Malcom Brown (2015 first-round pick) and Alan Branch (11th year) at defensive tackle, and also have Chris Jones (fourth year), Dominique Easley (third), Frank Kearse (fifth), Ishmaa'ily Kitchen (fourth) and Joe Vellano (third) on the depth chart.

The 29-year-old Knighton spent 2015 with the Washington Redskins after signing a one-year deal with incentives. He met with the Redskins earlier this week but left without signing a contract.
