Average makes more sense.
Smaller arena (peg) = less cheap 300 level seats + higher % of pricier seats = higher average

Dont even need Darkstone for that one.

I know it's a hockey crazy city but after the SportsHoopla of getting a team back if the teams doesn't win consistently do you think it could be a problem down the road Dash? Those tickets are pretty damn expensive. More expensive than Toronto? Wow also how big is Winnipeg population wise?

The good news Boss is that they sold all their season tickets for the first five years of operations, so I reckon that gives them some time to build a contender.

As for Winnipeg's population, I think they're around 700,000...

The Devils do a great job of pricing their fans out of the lower level. Upper bowl is usually filled up, people just aren't willing to pony up 90+ for tickets.

But its not worth the money. I have WAY more fun and a better time in the 300's.

I've always liked sitting up a little higher, too; you get a much better perspective of what's going on. Sitting down low kind of sucks, especially if you're down in the corner or the end of the rink.

Pretty much...I'm thinking of skipping Neids jersey retirement night after looking at the prices...

Not trying to sidetrack the topic at hand, but what is the appeal of getting glass seats? I want to feel like I'm part of the game, and at these arenas with seamless glass, the glass seats just don't give me that as I can't hear anything on the ice, muchless see only part of it.

You bring up a valid point. I counter with the fact that it is only possible to be a douchebag that pounds on the glass if you are, in fact, on the glass.

Douchebags: 1, esls79: 0.

And personally, I'd rather sit 10-20 rows up if possible. The only hockey rink I've been to recently was the XCel, and that's about as close to a balance of being able to see and being able to hear as they get there. Nothing wrong with any seats, though, really. It's about the experience.

Actually, I might grab a random Wild home game some time this year. There's no Flyers games in town unless both teams make the finals (in which case I will start murdering folks in Wild jerseys until I find one with a ticket on their person), but I'd like to check out a game from the upper seats, since I'm too cheap to buy a decent ticket.

I've had season tickets in the 300 level for 12 (13? meh, lost count) years.
No bad view in the RBC. It's a very well designed arena. Not fancy at, but well designed for viewing.

I like it up there, and it allows me to go to more games.

That said - I'll sit lower bowl a lot when the special offers or invitations form fiends come and give my seats upstairs to friends. And my bro-in-law has the super ultra mega hook up with Champions Club corporate seats, so sit there a few times a year as well (highly recommend it you can :-) Free beer, free food. Giant leather seats. Ahhh yeaaaahh. Face value on those is waaaay above the glass seats)

Never sat on the glass but have 2-4th rows. Did NOT like it. Couldn't see spending that much. I guess if you are a glass pounding douchbag as mentioned above, it can have an allure (aside: doucehbag couple in Buff I saw the other night pounding the glass in unison to the chant that was going on at the time. This is where all the little douchebags come from, when these people mate), but 15-20 rows up is IDEAL for me. Can see and hear everything, and low enough to get a great feel for the speed/power of the game that does kind of get lost in the 300's.

Some friends have had tix for years lower bowl thatI've say with many times, blue line, top row of lower bowl, so it's a wall behind them. So can stand up, do whatever, bothering no one behind you, fucking awesome. If I could spend a ton more $$ on season tix like they can, I would sit with them over anywhere else in the arena!

side note: nobody BUYS the Champions Club seats. I'ts ALL corporate sponsors, etc.
They could put $700 face value on them and it really wouldn't matter. lol

(I think the actual face value is $285.00, something like that)

As far as vantage points go, it depends on the arena. I remember going to games at the United Center and you needed binoculars to see the action on the ice. Just something about the way the building was sent up, I guess, made everything seem real far away. I've sat with my back to the concrete at the Joe, all the way up top as far back as you can go and could see everything great. I remember my first hockey game at the Kiel Center in St. Louis I sat in a corner about 15 rows back, those were some awesome seats too. You could see MacTavish's dandruff we were so close.

Not to derail even further, but some of those shots of the X last night looked awesome. Is there like a rustic log cabin theme going on in that place or something? I want to go see a game in Minny.

I'm shocked Pitt's up above some of the crazy expensive cities. No way they're more than the Rags, right?

I haven't been to a Wild game at the X since 2003, and I'm not sure if they offer these seats anymore, but I used to get these standing room only tix at the Budweiser drink rail, right at center ice. (I prefer to stand and watch hockey) Perfect view, 35 bucks a ticket, and you literally didn't even have to lift a foot to get a beer - the vendor was literally 3 feet behind you. We used to go and shoot the shit with Tom Reid as he did his pregame stuff from there when he was on tv.

I've been down on the glass right behind the bench for the WCHA Final Five and I didn't like it as much (although that hockey tournament is awsome, as is the state high school tournament)

For anyone wondering what kind of weird and random comment this is, I'm referring to image 7 from the slide show. Interesting read but I'm not sure how credible these guys are as far as hockey knowledge goes seeing as how they can't seem to distinguish between certain teams.

Then again, it appears yesterday I was unable to distinguish between correct and incorrect use of an apostrophe. :L

Wouldn't glass seats make it easier to see up skirts?:peace:

I'm just here to point and laugh at EDM having the 6th highest ticket prices.

As for Winnipeg's population, I think they're around 700,000...
and they have a 70,000 person waitlist for the single game tickets that come available.

Gotta be an average. I kinow NJ has tickets well over $200 between the blue lines lower bowl and I know teh rag$ & Flyers have much more expensive tiks too.

Trust Fox News to set it straight!
