What kind of NBA story is that!?
Is this the story of guys who would punch you in the face then kick you in the nuts?

I would put Zion on my list to illustrate they power of hype, future upside and the allure of tanking.

I think these 9 would have to be on any list because of their impact on the way basketball is played:

MJ
LeBron
Wilt
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Russell
Shaq
Curry

I like Dirk for the international piece.

From there, the next 4 could be any number of great players throughout history. Maybe Mikan if you want to go further back in time.

I'd include Kobe in there purely for the fact he's one of the few players in history that went from a clear #2 option to a superstar and won championships both as Robin and Batman

I wouldn't quite call him Robin to Shaq's Batman. Maybe Wonder Woman to Shaq's Superman.

Yes.

Guys nobody liked to play against. (MJ and Kobe could've been in there too. But their story was covered by erybody else.)

He was definitely #2 for almost the first half of his career though. Heck, he wasn't even a starter in the first two years of his career.

How many superstars can you find that started off their career like that?

Larry Bird didn't even play in the NBA the season after he was drafted.
