Tech QB Baker Mayfield transferring to OU?

I've seen few reports but this is the first time in The Oklahoman. I just don't see it happening. We would be really overloaded at QB next season, with 5. Counting Mayfield it would be 6.

Former Texas Tech quarterback Baker Mayfield intends to enroll at Oklahoma in January and walk on to the football team, the Austin American-Statesman reported Thursday morning.

When contacted Thursday, an Athletics Department spokesman said he was unaware of Mayfield’s plans to enroll at Oklahoma.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Mayfield hadn’t contacted the OU coaching staff about his plans.

I'm not sure you can have too many QB's. There seems to be a history of them getting tired of waiting and transferring somewhere.


To bad that we cant just get some to change their position.
I remember Switzer having a butt load of QB's and then convincing some of them to move to Linebacker and becoming a hitting machine.

Barry moved a bunch of them from QB's in high school to the defensive backfield in college. And they thrived....some going on to pro careers. Larry Roach (#26 and a guy who often laid the wood to people even though he only weighed 185 lbs.) once told me "I love it; now I get to knock the fuck out of people". Those guys could read a quarterback's mind and it made a ton of difference on many occasions.

I know another good example of a converted qb... His name is JT Thatcher.
