Is Clevenger really better than Teagarden? And I thought Snyder went to another team a few months ago?

clevenger grew up and loved the o's . pr move give the fans a bone ! caleb is a better hitter than matt and can also play lf rf 1st and c has good at bats . caleb is an up grade over these 2 on a playoff contending team .

I, and most of Red Sox Nation I suspect, will be pulling for your Os this afternoon.

It won't matter if the Red Sox get rained out, which is looking distinctly possible off
weather forecasts for our area.

BEAT NEW YORK, ORIOLES!

Say we did cut Feldman and Hammel. Who eats their innings? Tillman is the only consistent thing we got going right now. Feldman just pitched a great game Friday.

Gausman is great in middle relief duty, and probably could turn in a good spot start if Gonzalez continues to screw around. I'm beginning to think Wada is just some mythical figure until we actually see him.

It's not just Gonzalez-- if Chen continues to struggle, he might have to be shut down for the rest of the regular season as well. Alternatively, one could go with a "relay team" by using two pitchers for 3-4 innings each; the first pitcher could be the regular starter (e.g. Gonzalez or Chen) while the second pitcher could be the 3A call-up (e.g. Gausman or Britton). You could even use a RHP-LHP combination in each relay team for even better results.

feldman has been solid his last 4 outings...doing nothing to him except allowing him to pitch every 5th day is what should happen...maybe chen and gonzalez got their feathered ruffled when we traded for feldman and norris...thus the last few outings...esp when miguel sees himself coming out of the pen in mopup duty...buck needs to sit them down and let them know his plan...those 2 have been our most consistent pitchers since theyve been on our ML roster and now they r ineffective? NO they rjust looking over their shoulders now...so they are pitching with extra pressure...IMHO

Maybe you're right. Upon a second look, it seems that one could make a case for labeling Chen's and Gonzalez's recent slump as regression to the mean of some sorts:

Chen, pre-all star: 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP
Chen, post-all star: 4.91 ERA, 1.35 WHIP
Chen, 2013 combined: 3.87 ERA, 1.25 WHIP (you could still call him a #2/3 type based on this)

Gonzalez, pre-all star: 3.48 ERA, 1.19 WHIP
Gonzalez, post-all star: 5.77 ERA, 1.62 WHIP (ouch)
Gonzalez, 2013 combined: 4.11 ERA, 1.31 WHIP (this is #3-ish-- the AL average for starters is 4.18 ERA / 1.33 WHIP)

For comparison, here are the post-all star stats for our other starters:
Tillman: 2.93 ERA, 0.99 WHIP (I guess he's our ace right now)
Feldman: 3.46 ERA, 1.27 WHIP (time to take advantage of the hot streak by moving him to the #2 spot of the rotation?)
Hammel: 4.76 ERA, 2.21 WHIP (small sample size of two games)
Norris: 4.91 ERA, 1.70 WHIP

I look at Gonzalez and before we got Feldman and he made those relief appearances Miguel had the bulldog temperament...the same attitude I wish all of our pitchers had...now I see him and he looks like he timid...he was our best pitcher last yr down the stretch and in the playoffs...its hard to believe that that guy is the same guy that's pitching now...those mopup duty relief appearances have seemed to fuck him up a little bit...we'll need that mentality down he stretch to return

Just like Weiters hasn't hit well since his baby was born...he was dominant on Friday for the first 3 innings...then lost it...he pitched 2 days prior in relief...I knew his outing was going to go exactly how it did

Buck had to be the only reason he was still here. Guy was hitting .167 and a liability defensively. Granted, he only played like 20 games so its hard to get into a rhythm, but he sucked even more than backup catchers are allowed to.
