Athleticism is confidence and nothing more.

I've been down this path myself. When I was younger my dad wasn't in to sports so when 5th grade basketball came around, I sucked balls and then some. I mean I SUUUUUCKED.

I had made up my mind, however, that I was going to get good at it. So I started watching the greatest players to ever play the game. I studied MJ's every move, and by 7th grade I came to this conclusion........I can't fly like him, but everything that he does while his feet are on or near the ground, I can do it if he can.

I played basketball out in the drive way every day for hours......rain, snow, or sunshine. Eventually I started getting good. Got All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention......got a scholarship to play in college.

All because I worked at it and gained confidence. You would have thought I was a fag if you would have watched me playing before all that though.

I can tell you one thing.....when I have kids, they're gonna know that they can be as good as they want to be at whatever they want to be.

They're going to know that failure is by choice.

And when they fail, they're going to remember what I told them. And if they care, they'll change it.....if they don't care, they won't.

But I won't be one of those Fathers who says, "don't worry about it, son.....your friends are just more gifted naturally!!"

Your personality is formed over time, by certain situations that you go through......things that you experience.

JJM we ain't sayin that when we turn on the field all we see is dumb luck. What we see is dumb luck MIXED with hard work due to the realization of this dumb luck. Look at Nick young for the lakers. The dude is a freak, he coasts on his pure natural talent alone, cause if he worked at it he could actually be an all star. But he just uses his natural talent to coast buy and earn his $

I guess I must be biased based on my own experiences, because to be honest I have sucked at every sport that I've tried.....but the ones I've wanted to get good at, I was able to get good at by going at it until I couldn't go anymore.

Take golf for instance. I am so 100% convinced that anyone can get good at golf. I was averaging over a 90 when I graduated High School 11 years ago. A couple of years ago I won a huge tournament with a 69. That is a huge improvement.

All I did was watch videos of guys who knew how to golf, broke down their swing, and then went out and hit about 1,000 golf balls a day, every single day. Eventually I got good.

Does this stuff not happen for other people? Am I the only one who can get decent at stuff by trying?

Sure anyone can learn to play football and basketball, but they don't have the intangibles to play D-1 or pro football and basketball.
Those with natural talent coupled with effort separate themselves from the rest of us.

Well, I still believe to this day that I could become a professional golfer if I wanted to.

I believe that because of the amount of improvement I've been able to make in a short time, and the amount of improvement that is still out there for me to make.

Gotta reach for the stars in life, man. Otherwise it gets too boring. The word "limits" is just so lame en sech.

I actually believe you have to be more coordinated to be a good golfer than you do any other sport that exists.

There are so many moving parts to a swing. To the average viewer it is just a man standing there swinging a club. To an avid golfer, it's a man moving the Earth to get the ball to go where he wants.

Golf is harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd, man.
