Offer him to Houston for DW or Seattle for RW.
Ok, as part of the package, I can see that, but I'd rather keep him and trade Allen.

I give Heinicke my full support, as I gave Mahomes, because he was smart enough to say the right things regarding Alex Smith when Taylor re-signed and since. EVERYONE wants to start, have their chance and everyone believes in themselves. I like that Heinicke was professional In his interviews when some want to show swag or something by making statements. I’m sure he was awaiting my support and worrying if I would or not. ;)

Like Alex Smith making it back to the playing field Heinicke as a starter would be a great story. Not one I expect to happen ... at least for 16 games. It is hard to believe so many people have been wrong about his evaluation but I would be okay if that was the case. As I said as an old Tidewater VA sailor I would love to see a guy from ODU make it.

I dont know if Heinicke can play, but I THINK I know that Mariota can't. If he gets released, sure, bring him in.

Let's discuss because Mariota didn't just come from no where. Dude can play and has proved it at each level. Not that I want MM in DC because unless we get DW, I have always rolled with Heiney (playoff game as well) and believe with weapons around him he can flourish and win games.

But to say, "I THINK I KNOW THAT MARIOTA CAN'T" play is going off the rails imo.

I mean.......that's how I feel. I'm not sure that he can't play, but at the moment I don't think he's a good qb. I put THINK, because qbs get into bad situations and flourish when given a chance somewhere else.

Gruden strikes me as a guy who knows QBs, and he's presently trying to trade him.

Gruden would rather have cap space than Mariota. Proves my point.

I'm not hating on MM. I just don't want to trade anything for him.

The only way I would want Mariota here is if it is on the real cheap and the QB position was going to be REAL competition. I don't believe it was last year. I think Dan told RR that Haskins was starting, of course a shortened training camp/preseason didn't help. DH did not show that he was better than anyone else that played QB for the WTF last year. Tomcat called it early and he was right.

The biggest concern over Mariotta has to his injury history. I may be mistaken, but he has never played a full season. He has been injured every year. Secondarily, he has not been that accurate when he does play. I'd bet his accuracy percent has been one of the lowest among all QBs over his career. Not sure why anyone would want to give up anything to acquire that.

Honestly, since when did not wanting to trade assets for Marcus Mariota become a hot take?
