Speaking of defense, what the heck is going on with JDR?

That is a good question. Guys are in the wrong place a lot. JDR is playing a lot zone so if you are not getting pressure then it isn't hard to beat zone .... at least until you get to the red zone. I think Jones has compromising pics of RR and JDR.

I think they will play better but it might be week 5 or 6 before we see that.

Guys are literally WIDE OPEN running routes mainly in the middle of the defense. It is difficult to watch for sure. The front end goes with the back end.

Not sure why he seems to refuse to blitz ever.

A few blitzes per game will only add to the fearsomeness, not detract from it.

JDR last year was like a breath of fresh air. This year…..notsomuch.

Playing rookies McTyer and St Juste doesnt help, and neither does having a rookie mlb, a slow as molasses veteran lb, and a perpetually out of position safety still learning the defense.

OTOH, the dline - all veterans - doesnt look all that great either.

The D started slow last year and then came on later. I'd like to see them play a little more man, probably not this week though.

It came on when Landon got hurt. I hate to say it. I'm rooting for Landon. We need him to play well. Not sure where I heard it, but it was stated that the Jones run for the called back TD was on Landon.

Defensive issues were predictable based on what we saw in the playoff game last year and there's a simple explanation. If you can't beat the man in front of you, even with stunts, they win. (QB's are getting rid of the ball quickly too) They will get better at it as the season moves into its midpoint.
