The Bengals brought the diminutive WR in today for a private workout. What do you guys think? Would you be happy if the Bengals were to select him?

excerpt~

To no one’s surprise, Tavon Austin has drawn the eyes of many NFL scouts. We’ve told you that Austin has scheduled a workout with the Baltimore Ravens and that he and teammate Stedman Bailey have scheduled workouts with the Carolina Panthers, but now Austin has set up three more private workouts, this time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.
The Bengals have AJ Green at wide receiver but there’s not much left after that. They have Andrew Hawkins at #2 on the depth chart after Brandon Tate became a free agent this off-season. Austin would fit in nicely as a slot guy. The Bengals don’t have very many explosive players on their roster besides Green, so drafting the high motored Austin would make sense. Cincinnati has the 21st pick in the draft. They’d likely have to trade up to get him.

The offense on this team is god awful. Anything to upgrade it is welcomed by me.

Not my first choice bc he's pretty strictly a slot guy, but wouldn't be devastated either.

There is buzz he might go top 10. I highly doubt he makes it to us, but if we took him I wouldn't be sad.

He can also play out of the backfield which is nice. Put him in the backfield with 3 WR and a TE. He is matched up on a LB or a S.

how many 170 pounders have had great careers in the NFL, most of them end up on injured reserve

How many 6th round QB's have HOF careers. It only takes 1.

In my opinion, I really hope they do not nab him.

I want a guy at least 6'2" 200 pounds running down the sideline opposite AJ with great speed. I don't want another slot guy, or at least one in size.

So I hope he goes well before us in the 1st to rid ourselves of that temptation.

If we're going to draft a WR, and I'm really not sold that we will, I'd take Robert Woods in the 2nd and dance on my way up to the podium.

maybe they are thinking they have the picks to trade up.

someone is going to try.
but, with the bengals, you have to remember, we're aleady spending at 150% of the salary cap and we need to save money just to fill out our roster with nobodies.

LOL @ the Bengals trading up. You're a comedian, Dan. Funnier than Gilbert Godfried.

No more rookie receivers.

Let's not waste another year. I don't know who's left, if anyone, but we should be looking for some experience.

I don't mind another rookie WR, but for shit sakes, make him a threat on the outside with some body size and mass to wrestle the ball away from DB's and the speed to go deep to keep the safeties honest.

I think Sanu is our best slot option, so I really hope we do not go slot WR in the first round when we really need a couple other positions worse, like S or OLB.

Patterson, Hunter, maybe even Wood would be a better selection in the 1st. Patterson will never make it to us, and I really hope Austin doesn't either so we don't even have to deal with the thought of chancing it.
