Question is, do they even give him a look or simply release him. His cap hit would be $700k and figure they ill likely make some kind of decision rather quickly.

i think you see what shape he is in and if he is close you bring him to mini camp and see if he can earn a job

Agreed. Its basically a no loss situation for the Skins as his contract is not guaranteed in any way. They could carry him until the final cuts and the most it costs is a spot on the 90 man.

At first I thought giving him a 4th chance sent a awful message to the team, but since the NFL is ok with PEDs...why not see if this jerk is any better than the terrible options we have in the secondary

If reports are true, it wasnt PEDs he got banned for. He was a little too fond of the halflings leaf if ya know what I mean. He has been clean for the last two years apparently or the league would have never reinstated him. My take, I wouldnt count on him contributing, but for $750k bring him to camp and see if he offers any thing.

seriously? The sticky green cut his career short? Aww nawww man, I don't want him here then, he'll fall back into it, and plus the league will be eagle eye'n him too.

The Green is the easiest thing to give up though. If he has anything to offer then Im all for taking him on...

My buddy's younger bro is good friends with Tanard. He is not as bad as he has been portrayed...just made some bad decisions. Another case of a young kid with too much green ($)

I say we just give him a chance. He's reinstated. That's just more competition at safety. That always can bring out the best in players. We really can't say Rambo or Thomas is better than him, though he's been out of football. We'll see how things unfold.

Let's say we do let Jackson come back and he slightly outperforms Rambo...then what?

Do you cut Jackson?

Do you cut Rambo?

If you cut Rambo, what happens when Jackson pops positive again? Do you really trust a guy like Jackson? I sure as hell don't. I don't care if Jackson far outperforms Rambo...you cut Jackson. He's shown his character...a couple of times.

Of course you bring him in. He has paid his fine and is now cleared by the league. If he isn't a clear upgrade over what you have, you cut him loose and move on. If he makes the team, make sure he knows that he is going to be watched like a hawk. Any hint at all of his backsliding and he is gone. This sentiment that he is a repeat offender therefore doesn't deserve a chance is cutting your nose off to spite you face. He paid heavily for his errors and has done his time. You gain nothing by punishing him again.

OK now to inject a little reality here.

Rambo wont be cut. If Jackson makes roster we end up carrying Clark, Merriweather, Thomas, Rambo and Jackson. Means Gumbs would likely be the odd man out. As far as trusting him and he has shown his character..... thats for the coaches to decide as they know what they are getting into.

and if rambo gets cut it isnt like he cant be recalled or his equal

i dont get GK sometimes it appears some character risks are different from others ?

the first thing you look at is can he play ? if he can then you have a guy entering his prime .

i agree gumbs would be the guy to walk :agree:

I can see the confusion DAD. We have options at the safety position that are young and need to develop. If we had nothing, then you take a chance. Or if Tanard Jackson was an Ed Reed, you take a chance. Tanard Jackson at best is average (a couple of years ago). He doesn't bring youth, he doesn't bring exceptional talent, he does bring baggage with limited upside. The negatives outweigh the positives.

He's also already fucked us before. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Fine...just change the word Rambo with Gumbs. Either way, you don't take a chance on a continual failure.

GK... if he makes roster over Rambo or Gumbs, its an indication that they werent that good wouldnt you agree?? Some time you have to make choices to help out the team in the present. And if Jackson made roster, it would be that type of move.
