I don't think pick 2 will be available at 49, and I don't think pick 3 will be available with the 3rd round pick. However, if it came true it would be amazing.

Pick 1 and 3 are fine...not sold on pick 2...UK's defense had A LOT of issues...and they already have a big bodied nose in McKinley-Jackson. A lot will depend on the new DC and how he wishes to line guys up. I'm in favor of landing another DT, even a big one, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the kid from UK...

Come on man. How can you not like pick 2? He is a huge big bodied DT and one of the best run stuffers at the position in the nation. How can you not want that rotating with Jenkins and McKinnley with Henry, Chubb and Harris in our division? A huge body that requires two guys to block him also helps Hendrickson.

Plus, as many issues that UK had on defense, none of it was Walkers fault. He was like Hendrickson on our defense, a star among duds. When you play in the SEC against those power houses and you are not able to recruit to surround great players with good players, it should diminish the star. I was/am in favor of Walker with our 1st pick.

Because I watched a fair amount of UK games....and I was not impressed.

I'd actually like this draft - if you are looking for in IDL guy - I'd prefer this Grant from Michigan. He's also been on Feldman's freaks list, which is good because the Bengals need more athletic disruptors at the POA.

Ivey is a really long bodied guy that also is a really good athlete. His size would allow him to slot in at DE over Hubbard on the strong side, while also valuing his upside as a pass-rusher. Very much like Hubbard coming out of college in that aspect. It also allows Murphy to rotate at a more natural true pass-rush position behind Trey (IMO).

Emmanwori was a stud safety for South Carolina - and is a guy that can tackle and play in coverage. Would be a great addition to the back end of this defense, IMO.

UK has no issues recruiting...usually their defenses have been pretty stout. It's their offense that absolutely stinks year in/out.

My good buddy graduated from UK, and is a booster...so, he watches UC games with me, and I watch UK games with him...despite them not being 'my' team - I hear, and have learned, a fair amount about them.

Again, I'd look at Grant, potentially, and pair him back up with Jenkins - and Harmon is going to be a late 1st rounder as well from Oregon - another guy I would highly look at, but he's not as big as Grant or Walker.

I've actually doubled up on DE's a few times.

I also like the IOL pick, and I have picked him a few times as well.

Also have to factor in a WR IF Tee doesn't sign...could do that in round 1 or round 2...depending on what you feel the need is for the offense. You don't have to necessarily replace Tee with another Tee, especially if him leaving allows you to re-sign Gesicki for 1 more year, and you have All and McLachlan still in the wings as some really big targets.

Not to mention - F/A is going to impact this a lot - as is, obviously, whatever the new scheme will be.

Could sign a FA WR to a one year contract also if we lose Tee. I doubled up on DE, because I thinking we need a more solid veteran presence in that interior to rotate with Jenkins and McKinnley that is not Rankins or Hill.

Well, Hill is a F/A - so they would need to re-sign him.

Rankins is TBD - but how the season ended sounded kind of odd for him - I would not be shocked if he is cut.

IF that is the case, clearly DT would be a need, again, in F/A and/or in the draft. I like Jenkins/McKinley - but there needs to be a solid rotation - so a veteran of some type is likely needed.

I thought the pass rush down the stretch was better...maybe not great/good...but better when we got to see some sets of Murphy, Ossai (also a F/A), and Trey out there in some form.

As an aside, it's one reason why I like Grant in round 1 at DT - he's a freak with his size and speed (which is how he landed on Feldman's list). The Bengals really need more athletes, and that especially is true on the line.

Regardless, though - I think a F/A is going to be a need - and it's hard to project exactly what is the best fit until we know the scheme/approach of the new DC.

Here's one I doubled up - mainly because I got super lucky in round 2 with the OSU kid falling...gives you more of a strong side/Rush side pairing in round 1/2.

The WR is a good sized guy, not quite as big as Tee, but would be nice regardless of if Tee is here, or not because without Burton - the Bengals still need more play-makers on offense. I think Yoshi had a very nice year, and I think he can continue to improve, but Jones has been a big nothing burger (but he can return kicks) - and you need depth. If you decided not to opt for WR in round 3 - the LB from Oregon would be nice, as the S from South Carolina I've mentioned.

What are your thoughts on Sawyer from the Bucks? LB/Edge I like how that kid plays. We could definitely use an upgrade next to Wilson.

#17 Grant, DT (Michigan)
#49 Sawyer, LB (OSU)
#81 Ratledge, G (Georgia)

I like him, but I worry about his overall athleticism...on a defense that needs MORE guys with high RAS scores, I'm interested to see where he scores.

It's hard to ignore his productivity - but I think if I had to take one of the 2 DE's from OSU, I'd prefer the other guy. Not to say I think Sawyer will be a bad NFL guy - but I see him more as a strong-side/Run DE with the occasional ability to get to the passer. His overall explosion isn't great (which is a theme even among some of the mid/late 1st round guys), and like I said - I think his top end as an athlete is likely limited - but I will keep an open mind on him once I can see a bit more on some of the scores (not that they are the be all end all - sometimes you just need to look at film and get football players - but at such a key position - I think you need guys who are long and explosive).

Per Joe Goodberry:

Extend Higgins for 3 years and his cap hit could be less than last year's. Extend Hendrickson for 2 years and throw him some cash up front. Extend Ja'Marr and reduce his cap hit in 2025.Have $70M+ cap space left to spend. Bengals On The Brain presented by
@Firststarlog

I.E. - The Bengals have PLENTY of cap - the question is going to be about guarantees, years (for Chase) and just how much the organization is going to have to have on actual hand (escrow) on the guarantees...

Wouldn't Burton be a choice to move up, or don't you see him in that role?

Burton?

The WR who is being evicted, sued, and beat up his girlfriend...yeah, don't think the NFL is going to allow him to play next year...

Can't find the tweet now - but PFF has an article out on 'dream' picks/fits for 1st round...and their pick for the Bengals is Michigan DT Grant. His run stop% is elite, and also had a very good win rate and rush% in passing situations. In other words, he would fit in very well...which is what I saw in the games I did watch with him. Active, can absolutely MOVE for a big dude, and clogs up that middle...pair him with Jenkins, and McKinley and I think you have the makings of a very nice 1-3 DT rotation.

Hadn't heard all that, interesting. I just knew he had some baggage from college.
