AP Mariners prospect left-hander Danny Hultzen was scratched from Thursday’s scheduled start with Triple-A Tacoma after he had trouble getting loose. And now we know why.
The Mariners announced last night that Hultzen was diagnosed with a left rotator cuff strain and inflammation. He’s expected to rest and rehab his shoulder for the next two weeks before being reevaluated.

2 weeks shy of last years announcement at this time.
I saw some writer penned an article that relates the number of season ending injuries to the increased drug testing. Does make you pause and reflect on it.
I am not sure if it is better or worse that Walker was scratched while never throwing a pitch in warmups. He couldn't get loose while in the training room.
I can't remember the last time the Mariners had so many injuries to their starting rotation. Each one of the "Big 3" is injured currently. Extremely unfortunate.

The crazy thing is the starting pitching has still been really good even with all these injuries. Its just that we unfortunately have to watch the same offensive results we have been seeing for 5 years. But yeah pitching injuries have been popping up all over baseball, really unfortunate. I don't think there is a position in sports that is more fragile then a major league starting pitcher.
So he got shut down for a week about a month ago in Spring. Getting Shutdown for two weeks likely means he has to start his rehab completely over and it will take longer to recover then the 1st time. Seems like mid June is best case scenario at this point.
