Russian Government (no less!) approved the idea of having an 8-match series between Russia and Canada (in Russian)

In short, it'll be 40th anniversary of 1972 series soon. The idea is to have the same 8-match series (4 in Russia, 4 in Canada) in August-September 2012.

According to Vladislav Tretyak (President of Russian Hockey Federation and top Russian goalie in 1972 series), they already have approvals from René Fasel (IIHF), Bob Nicholson (Hockey Canada) and Russian Government.
Next step - discussing it with NHL and NHLPA. They sent letters to both and NHLPA already responded. In November Tretyak flies to Canada to discuss the project with them.

One game will be played in Sochi, on a new Olympic arena. One - in Moscow. The rest is not decided yet. Likely, St. Petersburg.
They are planning to invite all players from original Superseries.

That is going to be so bad ass. Bettman and the BOG will probably put up a fight, tho, seeing as they already seem to dislike using their players in the Olympics. I'll probably root for Russia in this out of respect for my Soviet room mate (not to mention that I'm still a little pissed off about the Olympics). I really hope this happens!

Would they use North American sized rinks in Canada and IIHF sized rinks in Russia? Also, when is the next World (Canada) Cup?

That's Bob Ross. He used to do a painting instructional show on PBS. Huge white man's afro and he always sounded heavily medicated. He'd knock out a doctor's-office-type masterpiece in 30 minutes. I always wanted to buy one of his paintings.

This would be great. The one thing international hockey (World Cup, Olympics, etc.) has lacked is the rivalry and 8 games between the same teams would be bound to bring out some fun. I mean based on the Olympics wouldn't it have been fun to see another six US-Canada games?
