A lot of that is a function of a working OL and WR corp...but yeah.
You’ve gotta know when to go and where to go. You have to get a man read. You have to make sure they’re not spying you. There’s a lot that goes into it. Hurts is unconventional in the way he plays the game. It’s not sexy. He’s just one of those guys that will never get his due unless he wins. Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw were pedestrian. They weren’t the most talented QBs of their day. They didn’t have great numbers. They were often critiqued and criticized while they played. But they’re all timers because they closed and they won. Hurts needs to win two more rings to get the respect he likely deserves. It is what it is.

I think if Hurts goes B2B champs he'll get his respect. That'll be 3 out of 4 yrs going to the SB.

The Eagles won by so much that its hard to give any individual part of the whole too much credit. That said, in his 2 Super Bowl years he was one of the best players in the league. He has one year inbetween where he was maybe the 12th best QB. Even this year he too a back seat to Barkley.

He is so young. Its impossible to suggest where this is going with him. He has been fantastic for a young player, though.

Good post. I have a feeling he gets back to the big game at least one more time. Hurts is a good game manager and field general and I mean that in the best possible way. But let's be real, the o-line is the star in Philly, not Hurts, not Barkley, not Brown or Smith.

Landon Dickerson might be a hall of famer if he can stay healthy long enough. He did this on one knee and just had surgery after the game.

In a salary cap league it’s important to maximize advantages in areas that don’t pertain to cap. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoudtland is one of the best in the business. He has been on the staff of 3 Eagles head coaches. He is paid like he is one of the top offensive coordinators. It’s because of him that an All Time Center can retire and his replacement makes the Pro Bowl. It’s because of Stout that the Eagles can take a 7th round flyer on a rugby player and teach him the game of football as a practice squad guy for 2 years. Now that 7th round pick was the highest rated OL according to PFF this season. It’s because of Stout that they can take a cheap flyer on a guy as talented as Mekhi Becton when a terrible organization fails to develop him and they get a key starter.

The Eagles just do it better than everybody else.

Landon Dickerson was a badass in college. The big worry on him was injuries so he fell but based on talent he should've been a top 20 pick. That said, yeah, having a great OL is a unique thing in the NFL. Most teams briefly have a top 5 OL and thats kinda it. The Chiefs passing on Lane Johnson likely changed the league in a crazy number of ways.

Yeah I was elated when that happened. For me, I thought he was the best OL in that draft and Joeckel and Fischer both went ahead of him.

Joeckel always seemed weird. Like how people talk about Sanders right now as a QB prospect. Lane Johnson was the athletic freak and the Chiefs sometimes drafted those guys. I believe Dorsey was the GM at the time and I think he chose upside with skill players but floor with Oline. It was a huge mistake.

Looking back.
I feel foolish thinking the Chiefs were gonna win.
If we look back at history of Superbowls dealing with one team in 3 or even 3 of 4 Superbowls.
It was always an NFC East team to stop it.
The signs were so clear

Miami played in SB VI, VII, VIII what stopped the 3 peat? an NFC East team
Minnesota played 3 of 4 superbowls. Who played in the one they missed? An NFC East team
Buffalo played in 4 straight Superbowls. Lost all 4 to NFC East teams
NE played in 3 of 4 superbowls. their one loss. To the NFC East team. (was actually 4 of 5 SBs)
In fact all of Brady's losses are to NFC East teams.
So when KC was going for a 3 peat & their opponent was against an NFC East team.
It was so obvious!

homer simpson is wearing a white shirt that says dooh

I first discovered who he was as a Notre Dame fan back in 2012. He was the OL coach at Alabama with Saban . Notre Dame was in the national title game vs Bama and Eddie Lacy ran all over them. Eddie Lacy is really just a guy as his pro career proved. It was that offensive line working what was a really good ND front 7. I was pissed watching the Irish get worked but the performance was one that had you stand up and notice the work of that offensive line. Dude is just the master at teaching OL play. Eagles have been lucky. They also had some good ones in Juan Castillo and Howard Mudd. Mudd was already a legend before he came to Philly.
