And the mayor of Kansas City collected arrowheads?

Maybe they should just put a a full house poker head on the side of a helmet since so many casino's were built on reservation land. I wonder what percentage of the take the tribes get.

They can replace the Warrior Chief emblem on the helmet with a picture of Frank Redskin standing in front of his pet shop.

The pressure to change the name started as far back as 1997 from what I can find.
So Washington decided to get rid of their name before that had a new name when they had 24 years to come up with one.

As punishment, the NFL should force them to be called The Washington C-T.O.A.N's (Cant Think Of A Name ) for life.

Because he doesn't exist probably leads the list of many.

Of course after expanding the search he couldn't be found in the country. They did get close though.

I've read that it started much further back than that. Back to the days when Edward Bennett Williams was a minority owner n team president back in the 60s. Nonetheless. You'd think someone would've been better prepared than the Skins brass was. Snyder's arrogance on display again .

It did, but to be fair almost everyone used it in early America__ the1800's__ including our people. With the advent of film followed by television the term was used exclusively in a negative manner as noted by anyone who has ever watched a western or film of that nature. Protests, lawsuits, and direct appeals naturally followed but like every other group seeking equal treatment, dismissal, little or no reports/coverage of such protests and often times, retribution was given a pass with a "legal" blind eye. These protests rarely made the news and/or were drowned out with feigning acceptance by native Americans as non native Americans depicted them in such ventures.

BTW; I remember that meeting with Edward Bennet Williams but it happened in 1972. So, protests go way back to early film and television but @R.J. MacReady is also correct because they were taken more seriously, had more in-depth reporting on them which renewed interest and greater public knowledge about some of the country's shit that had been swept under its collective rug beginning in the 1990's.

1800s eh. I can recall the, 'The only good redskin is a dead redskin.' days back in the early 1970s. Almost always portrayed as the bad guy or worse, goofy ass clowns al la Chief Wahoo, the old Cleveland Indians moniker on tv/movies.

I saw it mostly on tv and movies, but saw a couple instances in person in Oklahoma n Georgia. I remember how Asian peeps were portrayed. Black and Mexican folks. Aside from very very few roles, always subservient and/or in a negative manner. Females experienced a lot of the same things as well, some much more than others. Let me slow my roll though. This is neithet the time nor the place.

This is spot on brother and for anyone who doubts it, take some time to watch any old western that involved native Americans, listen to the language used when there's mention of them, then note the year that your film was made.
