If someone has said something stupid... Feel free to share it.

Found this little gem this morning..

Gary Danielson: Targeting Rule Specifically Hurts SEC | Eleven Warriors

"The targeting rule specifically affects the SEC more than the other conferences. The SEC is the one conference that has elite defensive players and game-breaking athletes who have been measured and recognized through the NFL draft. This rule has defenses across the country playing more timid and is another way that the rest of college football is becoming more competitive with the SEC. As a rule, it needs to be changed."

That really was terrifically stupid.

I would expect a little less SEC knob slobbering from a Big Ten guy.

It looked to me like the sec got away with it more than any other conference, they had a few calls but overall they elected not to eject the player and in most cases there was no flag at all where there should have been

I agree. The Big XII and Big 10 refs have been ahead of the power curve on the defenseless targeting rules. Remember the calls against Nebraska in the Big XII? One on a kick return on Martin against Okie Jr if I remember correctly.

Those are getting routine everywhere now. The SEC hasn't been as strict about it.

The B1G Refs are the ones that strictly enforce the rule. I can't wait for the bowl games with B1G officials, some eyes are going to be opened.
