:wtf2: You know what, all i can say is that if Haslett gets a chance to pick his players this year and a few studs in FA, he shouldn't have any excuse to AT LEAST be in the top 12 defenses next year. Damn i would've loved to have Gregg Williams back but Snyder burned that bridge .

I just hope he is allowed to switch back to a 4-3 which is more his style and do away with this 3-4 crap.

Come on guys, especially you Mr optimism. Lets hope that they actually invest in the defensive side of the ball for once which we havent done seriously in a long while. As i have said, I dont expect a top ten unit, but I also dont expect a bottom five unit if we actually address the secondary and D-line this year.

What I hope for. Go back to the 4-3. Put Kerrigan at DE, bring in a starting DE and DT to go on the other side. BRing back Rak and Riley, and bring in another starting OLB. Resign Hall, bring in another CB and 2 Safetys. Yes I know its alot. But aside from the DE and DT, everything else we are going to need no matter what base defense we run.

Sounds like Hall wants to be a safety now. Id resign him for that. He is better suited for that position now. I definitely want to see a 4-3 switch.

I only want to see a switch to a 4-3 if we bring in the right guys for it. Also the down side is, it still means Rak going into coverage occasionally. Not perfect, but its a start.

well Rak had his best season as a 4-3 OLB (11.5 ) sacks so perhaps it isnt that bad .

so lets look at a potential 4-3 with what we have on the roster now

you have bowen and carriker at on DE spot with kerrigan on the other with golston

cofield baker and nield at DT

you have Rak , Riley and perhaps robinson at MLB (riley and robinson could switch )

you have hall , wilson /amesron and chase at CB and the safety quartet of merriweather doughty rambo and thomas

so we do have holes to fill but we could get some good depth with some of these guys being replaced as we all know they will

Skinsdad... my only concern with Rak at OLB is we better have the secondary strong. I dont want to see Rak in coverage half the time to mask the fact that our safty's are weak.

Otherwise I think we could go either way. 3-4 or 4-3

I could be wrong but i was pretty sure that rak played DE and not OLB his rookie year. Dont know that he will fit as an OLB in 4-3.

I believe Orakpo actually did play both DE and OLB his rookie year. They threw both positions at him so he wouldn't get exhausted taking on huge linemen all year at DE.

Doesn't sound like we are switching. He is a fan of the 3-4.

Bet he has both filled within a week. Pretty funny how he handled the Sean McVey question.

Keeping Haslett would be a change at DC....They just fired last years DC (MS) He changed the scheme then mettled in its implementation and the defensive calls. THIS alone is why they maintained Haslett. All of those maintained will still interview with the new HC. There are still changes to come.

I don't think its affects his chance. If Gruden thinks he's the best guy, he'll go with him. He's not going to let the press affect that decision. If he did, we just made a bad hire.
