"The BCS is an easy target again this week, as fans and media laugh and scream about a system in which a team (Alabama) can actually benefit from failing to reach its conference championship game while another (LSU) could get there, lose and fail to suffer drastic consequences."

If it was not for the BCS then these are you national champions

1998 - Same, FSU and Tennessee would have just played in the Sugar Bowl
1999 - Same, FSU and VT would have played in the Orange Bowl
2000 - Same, Same Venue
2001 - Miami over Colorado in Orange Bowl
2002 - Miami Hurricanes over Georgia in Sugar Bowl
2003 - USC over Michigan, #1 USC in Both Polls stay #1 after beating Michigan
2004 - USC over Michigan
2005 - USC over Penn State
2006 - Florida probably still win s when USC Kills Ohio State in the Rose
2007 - USC over Ohio State
2008 - Who Knows
2009 - Alabama over Texas in Sugar Bowl
2010 - Auburn over Stanford, while Oregon played Ohio State

If not for the BCS, USC would have won 4 NCs...

its weird that cbs of all outlets is the most against a rematch

Simple.

LSU beat Alabama
Alabama as of this Second is preparing to play LSU for the NC.
LSU is preparing for Georgia to win the SEC.

How does losing allow you an extra week of preparation and NOT HAVING TO PLAY THE BEST IN THE SEC EAST??????

LSU should be given the week off and ALABAMA should have to beat Georgia!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be like if...

Baltimore went 16-0
Pittsburgh went 14-2

and then Blatimore has to play on the road in the Wild Card Round....

Why Should Oklahoma State go over Stanford or Virginia Tech? Because the Big 12 inflated their win total with shitty OOC games?

Alabama would have played in the Sugar and Texas would have been in the Fiesta. They would have not played each other. However, Nebaska won the Big 12 anyway that year regardless of the score.

yeah the pac 12 and acc have been a friggin gauntlet this year

When did I say that?

There is not difference between those 3 schools. NONE played a schedule that was tough.

Kansas State should not even be ranked.

Stanford had a wimpy schedule minus Oregon, Notre Dame, and USC. Only three games on that schedule that are even decent. Stanford also didn't win the Pac12 and IMO isn't the best team in the Pac12.

Virginia Tech's schedule is even more of a joke. I wouldn't be suprised if they lost to Clemson this weekend.

LMAO!!!!

This is without the BCS. Texas always had a loose commit with the Cotton Bowl, and they would have declined the Cotton invite and gone to the Sugar Bowl.

NOW if they were #1 I dont think they would have done that. But they were #2 and needed Alabama to lose to win the NC. If they had stayed in the Cotton and played say TCU or Iowa there is no way they would have had a chance to win the NC. Alabama would have played Cincinnati.

I guess the big 12 didn't have the fiesta commitment back then since nebraska went to the 97 orange bowl. :playball:
