In fantasy terms I think this is going from bad to worse. The Steelers just traded for Felix Jones, which makes me think they know Bell will be out for enough of the season that they can't just roll with Redman, Dwyer and LSH.

There's an interesting stat from Football Outsiders called Success Rate, which measures whether a particular run accomplished its short-term objective (i.e. get 5 yards on first down, get enough for a first down on third down...) - and of the 42 RBs with 100+ carries last year, not one of the three current Steelers backs ranked in the top 30. Dwyer was 31st, Redman 35th, and LSH came in dead last at 42nd. Felix Jones, despite his bad YPC, ranked 16th - meaning he was used in short-yardage situations and did a reasonable job.

The Steelers, maybe more so than any other team (except maybe the Jets, in theory at least), don't really look for home runs from their RBs; they look for consistent, grinding success, which Jones is more likely to provide.

I'm not saying I think Jones wins the job outright, but what he brings screws up the picture even more for everybody else, until Bell comes back.

Side note: the RB with the highest success rate last year was... Knowshon Moreno. (Just another plug for my favorite pass-protectin', system-knowin', defense-recognizin', non-fumblin' sleeper.)

The only thing that could make me change my mind on Steelers RBs would be, oddly enough, their QB.
If BigBen endorses a guy as their RB1, it would tell me that he likes running the offense with that guy on the field as opposed to the other guys. unfortunately, we will probably just have the same RBBC mash up that PIT gave us last year. I wonder if they even notice that they were a ton better when they were going with just 1 RB for the majority of their plays. Of course, their team in general was a lot better back then, but still, give us another decent RB option for fantasy please!

Ugh, the Denver RB situation is another one that's irritating me.

Dwyer cut! I think that makes Felix your Week 1 starter.

You sure Redman won't get first crack? Either way, it's a mess. I wonder what the deal was with Dwyer?

Dwyer was a constant frustration. They were looking for big improvement from him, which they got little. I think it came down to the fact that the coaches couldn't trust him. Whether it was health, fumbling, or just plain bad field vision, he was constantly letting Pitt down.

To clear things up... REDMAN will be week 1 starter. But look for Jones & Stephens-Howling to be in the mix. I wouldn't trust any of them to be a FF starter until someone separates themselves as a clear cut starter.

Seems to me that they must have a lot of confidence in Bell coming back soon if they let Dwyer go and kept Felicia which works for me!

Yea I think Bell will miss 1-2 games max. He already shed his walking boot.

C'mon ESPN.... get with the program...

It's being reported that Le'Veon Bell may be out until week 6. Yet ESPN is showing his status as "Questionable" which is preventing me from adjusting my roster unless I remove him from IR (which means I'd have to drop a player, or Bell).

And for you IDP guys....

This is the "note" for CB Devin McCourty of the Patriots on ESPN:

McCourty made four tackles in Sunday's win against Pittsburgh.
Spin: One of McCourty's tackles was for a loss, and the veteran corner held the Pittsburgh receivers in check all afternoon. He should be a decent source of tackles for Tennessee down the stretch, and hopefully will find a way to pull down a few interceptions as well.
This is obviously in reference to CB Jason McCourty of the Titans, not Devin.

With the reports today of the possible month out or whatever. . is coming awfull close to confirming what I suspected from the start. It is a lisfranc injury, and much like JAX with MJD.. they're screwing with the injury report in an effort to make teams think he "might" play. I'd be mildly surprised if he plays before wk8, if at all.

After all this, could Dwyer actually be a good pickup? Jones and Redman weren't exactly beatin' down the door...

Depends on your level of desperation. IMHO, the Steelers offensive line was pathetic at run blocking BEFORE they lost their center. And now? I really don't see much hope for anyone 9ther than Redman.. the only back who has shown at least some ability of gaining a little more than what's blocked for him. If it gets that bad, I guess you could do worse, but it'd have to be really ugly.
