Pretty sure Austin Pettis got four weeks with his first offense.

I don't think you get a warning for PED's...You just get the minimum of 4 games...After that it escalates...
This is right, PED are different than marijuana or DUI's under league policies.

Except in the case of the Pete Carrol and his adderall scam!

Just brilliant. I wonder if we are going to see more of this with some of the players that Snisher drafted this year like the janitor that punched his teammate in the mouth. I guess our rep is really going to take a hit with the refs and other players across the NFL this year.

From what I've heard... he didn't actually take any banned substance at all. He was late for a scheduled piss test. By NFL policy, tardiness constitutes a positive test (similar to the Brandon Browner situation, where he did not show up for his testing, because he didn't know about it.)

Supposedly, Bailey did end up taking the test and he did pass. Of course, I'm still looking for some info to substantiate the story.

Stedman Bailey's statement, via Twitter:

"I want to be clear that I've never taken any performance enhancing products. I acknowledge that a violation of league policy occurred and that I am responsible for that violation. I sincerely apologize to my Coach Fisher, Stan Kroenke, my teammates and our great fans for my mistake."

Sounds like Stedman needs to buy an alarm clock.

Seems to me that if he knew (and he MUST have) that being late would be the same as a pos, he should never be late...It's not like a tardy in elementary school..This tardy cost him and his team a great deal more than 30 mins after school...These guys are making way too much money to make this kind of "mistake"...If money was as tight for him as it is for me, he would not have forfeited 1/4 of his salary next season...Difference is, these guys hardly notice something like that...Yeah, I'm still really pissed off about this kind of absolute stupidity and lack of caring about consequences for his team and teammates...This team isn't so good that a guy, who should be a solid contributor, can miss the first 4 weeks of the season...This rant thing sometimes actually keeps my head from exploding...I'm done with it now...Sorry...

No apologies needed Mikey for rants not directed at anyone on this board in a malicious fashion but expressing an opinion that has some heat to it. That's what we do here and everything you stated is spot on. Carry on my good man.

Even that is not a legitimate excuse. When you get to this level, and you're making this kind of $$$ you need to be responsible enough to fulfill your obligations. If he had to stay up all night to be sure to make that test then so be it. My father was a foreman at a nuclear power plant in Tennessee----TVA. If he was late for work twice in a year FOR ANY REASON he would have been fired. Accountability is difficult to find these days, especially in spoiled athletes that are not mature enough to handle it.
