Seem to recall a dick move from malkin at juniors in vancouver in 06 but it could have been just an office attempted fondling of tsn's sarah orleski (truth !!! My brother was interning with tsn that week)

Malkin was one of the leaders in the cheer-line past the opposition bench.
And he's not exactly lilly-white in the NHL.

There's just something about them...not to go all Grapes here, but it's mildly true. Canadians and Americans can sure be dicks too, but they make it a team effort. It's hard to really get super angry when it's Juniors...because putting a bunch of cocky, nationalist, extremely talented teenage boys on the ice basically asks for this. Still shouldn't happen...

And yeah, Geno was never a saint. He's matured a hell of a lot though. Same can be said for OV. They can taunt a bit, and did in the NHL even, but in the past 5 years or so, that's changed a lot. They're just really passionate, and wear their emotions on their sleeves.

I haven't seen any of it this year so I am not sure what's going on. In some previous years I have seen European players repeatably asked about how exciting it is to play Canada and how good the Canadian team is, sometimes even if that players team just beat them. I think it annoyed the players and when you have young immature players who feel disrespected show offy things happen.

Not that I am excusiung the behavior or saying the media coverage has been purposely disrespectful.
